A project engineer (PJE) is responsible for managing and coordinating all engineering activities within a
project to ensure successful delivery in line with contract requirements, quality standards, schedule, and
budget. The role involves cross -functional coordination, technical leadership, risk identification, and
ensuring seamless integration across all engineering disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Contract & Technical Management
ï· Possess a strong understanding of contract requirements and technical specifications.
ï· Develop integrated multidisciplinary engineering designs in compliance with contract scope and
applicable standards.
ï· Identify “grey areas” in the contract and highlight associated risks and opportunities.
ï· Monitor and control technical scope throughout the project lifecycle.
ï· Identify and prepare engineering scope changes and present them to the project manager.
2. Engineering Planning & Strategy
ï· Define engineering strategy and provide inputs to the Project Execution Plan (PEP).
ï· Guide the overall engineering process aligned with project objectives.
ï· Ensure adherence to the Standard Project Execution Flow (SPEF).
ï· Incorporate lessons learned from previous projects into ongoing engineering activities.
3. Coordination & Communication
ï· Lead coordination among different engineering disciplines to ensure design integration.
ï· Ensure effective communication of all design changes across the project team.
ï· Manage engineering communication with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external parties.
ï· Facilitate and lead SCRUM sessions to drive progress and resolve issues.
4. Engineering Control & Documentation
ï· Initiate and oversee preparation of the Document Status List (DSL) in line with PMO templates. 12/16/2025

ï· Review DSL to ensure completeness and alignment with project schedule and interdisciplinary
dependencies.
ï· Manage engineering document flow across all stakeholders.
ï· Ensure all engineering deliverables undergo required checks and approvals.
5. Procurement & Vendor Management
ï· Review and approve purchase requisitions (PR).
ï· Manage outsourced engineering packages in coordination with lead/package engineers.
ï· Ensure vendor deliverables meet project requirements and timelines.
6. Quality, Risk & Compliance
ï· Ensure all engineering activities comply with quality standards and contractual obligations.
ï· Conduct necessary design reviews and checks to maintain engineering integrity.
ï· Consult Product Technology Manager when design deviates from standard or proven solutions.
7. Budget & Schedule Management
ï· Monitor and control engineering activities within approved budget and timelines.
ï· Provide regular updates and forecasts on engineering progress.
8. Construction & Site Support
ï· Coordinate resolution of technical queries from the construction site.
ï· Provide engineering support during project execution and site activities.
ï· Address engineering issues proactively to avoid delays or rework.
9. Deliverables Management
ï· Ensure timely preparation and submission of all engineering deliverables.
ï· Oversee preparation of spare parts list as per standard templates.
