Role: Project Manager (Core Network Migration & Deployment Program)
Target Environment: Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) / Large-scale Telecom Service Provider
Experience Level: 8–12 Years
Objective
To lead end-to-end planning, governance, and execution of large-scale Core Network migration and deployment programs for RJIL, ensuring seamless service transitions, successful maintenance window execution, strict risk mitigation, and absolute adherence to delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Program Governance & Delivery
Own overall project delivery lifecycle, master planning, execution tracking, and executive reporting for core network migration and deployment programs.
Track project milestones, migration progress, issue logs, dependencies, and actionable items, delivering transparent status updates to senior leadership.
2. Migration & Cutover Management
Coordinate large-scale network migrations, hardware refreshes, site commissioning/decommissioning, and service transitions across multi-region environments.
Ensure deployments are executed with minimal customer impact while prioritizing network stability and operational excellence.
3. Maintenance Window (MW) Leadership
Lead the planning, governance, and execution oversight for scheduled night-time maintenance windows and critical cutover activities.
Validate the complete readiness of technical resources, formal approvals, robust backout plans, and proactive stakeholder communications prior to cutover.
4. Stakeholder Management & Alignment
Act as the primary interface between Cisco, RJIL stakeholders, engineering teams, network operations, and external delivery partners.
Drive cross-functional alignment and resolve competing priorities across all participating groups.
5. Risk & Escalation Management
Proactively identify project risks, service-impact concerns, resource constraints, and operational execution challenges.
Formulate robust mitigation strategies and manage executive escalations efficiently.
6. Method of Procedure (MOP) Governance
Maintain rigorous oversight to ensure all deployment and migration activities are backed by fully validated MOPs, comprehensive implementation plans, rollback procedures, and change approvals.
7. Resource & Vendor Coordination
Manage L2 and L3 engineering resources, partner allocations, shift rosters, and deployment readiness to successfully hit project milestones.
8. Continuous Improvement & Service Assurance
Drive post-implementation lessons learned reviews, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) governance, process optimizations, and deployment automation initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Experience: 8 to 12 years of core program and project management experience handling large-scale Telecom or Service Provider network deployment and migration portfolios.
Technical Acumen: Strong working knowledge of MPLS, BGP, OSPF/ISIS, Segment Routing, Core Network Architecture, and overall Service Provider Operations.
Operational Expertise: Demonstrated, hands-on experience governing critical maintenance windows, network cutovers, and high-impact migration programs.
Leadership & Collaboration: Proven capability leading matrixed, cross-functional teams comprising Network Operations, Engineering, external vendors, and client stakeholders.
Governance Frameworks: Comprehensive background in Change Management, Risk Management, and Service Delivery Governance.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and executive-level presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile.
Prior direct experience working with RJIL or tier-1 Telecom Service Providers.
Familiarity with Cisco IOS-XR environments and complex core network transformation programs.
