We are seeking an experienced Proposal Engineer – Water Treatment to lead the preparation of technical and techno-commercial proposals for water treatment, wastewater treatment, recycling, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) projects. This role is ideal for a Mechanical or Chemical Engineer with strong expertise in process selection, proposal development, cost estimation, and client-facing technical discussions.
As a Proposal Engineer, you will play a critical role in evaluating customer requirements, selecting appropriate treatment technologies, preparing competitive proposals, and supporting business development efforts. You will work closely with process, engineering, procurement, and commercial teams to develop technically sound and commercially viable solutions that meet client expectations and project objectives.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge of water treatment systems with excellent communication, negotiation, and proposal management skills.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
Analyze client inquiries and assess technical requirements to determine proposal feasibility and completeness.
Develop optimized process schemes for water treatment, wastewater treatment, recycling, and ZLD applications.
Perform design calculations for treatment systems including pre-treatment, filtration, ultrafiltration (UF), softeners, DM plants, RO systems, and polishing units.
Prepare comprehensive technical proposals, process descriptions, and supporting engineering documentation.
Develop cost estimates, project budgets, and pricing strategies to ensure competitive offerings.
Prepare Basic Engineering Package documents, process flow diagrams, and P&IDs.
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and project documentation requirements.
Coordinate with internal engineering, procurement, and operations teams to develop integrated proposal solutions.
Participate in technical and commercial discussions with clients, consultants, EPC contractors, and OEM partners.
Support vendor evaluation, technical clarification, and commercial negotiations.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and customer expectations.
Maintain proposal quality, accuracy, and timely submission schedules.
Identify opportunities to improve proposal competitiveness through innovative engineering and cost optimization.
What Makes You a Great Fit
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Around 8 years of experience in proposal engineering within the water and wastewater treatment industry.
Strong expertise in Water Treatment Plants (WTP), recycling systems, and Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) solutions.
Proven experience in preparing technical proposals and techno-commercial bids.
Strong understanding of water chemistry and critical water quality parameters across industrial sectors.
Ability to perform process calculations and develop treatment schemes independently.
Experience preparing P&IDs, engineering documents, and basic engineering packages.
Strong cost estimation and techno-commercial evaluation capabilities.
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.
Strong analytical thinking, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Self-driven, result-oriented professional with a proactive approach to proposal development.
