Real Estate Accounting Manager

Company Overview:

Our client is a prominent and reputable real estate investment firm which has a large land bank in Mumbai and has joint -venture projects with a leading real estate developer.

Position Overview:

As the Real Estate Accounting Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing the financial management and accounting operations related to the real estate development projects. Reporting to the Business Head, you will leverage your accounting expertise to ensure the accurate recording, reconciliation, and taxation compliance of project transactions, including sales and revenue sharing with our joint venture (JV) partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee project execution and delivery of real estate development by the firm's JV partner, ensuring compliance with project timelines, budgetary constraints, and quality standards.
  
• Supervise and reconcile bookings and sales of development units, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
  
• Manage the accounting of transactions related to real estate development projects, including revenue recognition, cost allocation, and expense tracking.
  
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including project managers, legal counsel, and JV partners, to resolve accounting discrepancies and ensure alignment with project objectives.
  
• Monitor and manage the share of revenue attributable to the real estate investment firm from JV partnerships, including profit distributions and equity adjustments.
  
• Coordinate with external auditors and tax consultants to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and taxation laws.
  
• Prepare and analyze financial reports, variance analyses, and cash flow projections for real estate development projects, providing insights and recommendations to senior management.
  
• Develop and implement internal controls and procedures to safeguard assets, mitigate risks, and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes.
  
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in real estate accounting and taxation, continuously seeking opportunities for process improvement and optimization.
  

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CA qualification required.
  
• 5 -10 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, preferably within the real estate or construction industry.
  
• Solid understanding of real estate development processes, including project management, sales and marketing, and financial analysis.
  
• Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems, with advanced Excel skills for data analysis.
  
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, taxation laws, and regulatory requirements applicable to real estate transactions.
  
• Excellent analytical, problem -solving, and decision -making skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
  
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross -functional teams and external partners.
  
• Proven leadership and supervisory experience, with the ability to mentor and develop accounting staff.
  
• Ability to thrive in a fast -paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities with tight deadlines.
