This role is designed for an experienced financial professional to oversee the accounting and reporting functions across multiple entities within a family office or privately held business structure. You will lead a small team of bookkeepers, maintain clean and accurate financial records, and ensure strong internal controls. Acting as the primary financial contact, you will coordinate with external advisors, manage cash and intercompany transactions, and deliver high-quality reporting for management and stakeholders. This hands-on leadership position requires both execution and oversight, balancing technical accounting expertise with strategic thinking. The role offers the opportunity to influence process improvements, scale financial systems, and operate in a high-trust, detail-oriented environment.
Accountabilities:
- Lead and manage the accounting function across multiple entities, including trusts, SPVs, and holding companies.
- Supervise and mentor bookkeepers, reviewing outputs for accuracy and consistency.
- Ensure adherence to accounting policies and maintain clean, reliable financial records.
- Oversee cash management, intercompany transactions, and implement strong control processes.
- Conduct month-end close, prepare financial statements, cash flow reports, consolidated views, and net worth summaries.
- Coordinate with CPAs, tax preparers, estate attorneys, and wealth managers on financial and reporting matters.
- Design, maintain, and improve accounting systems, workflows, and internal controls.
Requirements:
- 7+ years of experience in accounting or Controller-level roles, with prior team management experience.
- Strong expertise in QuickBooks or equivalent accounting systems.
- Experience in family offices, private investment, founder-led companies, or real estate is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with trusts, estates, and complex multi-entity structures.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and reviewer mindset to spot errors and inconsistencies.
- High level of discretion, professionalism, and ability to operate in ambiguous, high-trust environments.
- Strong organizational and process-oriented skills, with the ability to own outcomes and drive improvements.
