About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Public Affairs professional who can shape and amplify the sector’s policy narrative across media, policy, and public discourse. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of communications, media strategy, and public policy — particularly in sectors operating within evolving or ambiguous regulatory landscapes.

The Manager – Public Affairs will be responsible for building and nurturing deep relationships with Tier 1 media, crafting compelling thought leadership content, policy advocacy through experts ecosystem, and positioning the company as a credible and authoritative voice in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

Stakeholder Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with editors, reporters, and bureau chiefs across leading national and business media outlets (print, digital, broadcast).
  • Serve as a key point of contact for media, managing proactive pitches, reactive queries, and crisis communications.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive media engagement plan aligned with the company's business objectives and public policy positioning.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders in policy and industry circles to strengthen the sector’s voice in public discourse.

Thought Leadership:

  • Develop and manage a robust thought leadership calendar including Op-Eds, bylined articles, expert commentary, and panel discussions.
  • Write and edit articles, opinion pieces, and speeches for senior leadership.
  • Identify and secure speaking opportunities, panel participations, and media appearances for company spokespersons at industry events, conclaves, and policy forums.

Research & Policy Analysis:

  • Track regulatory and policy developments relevant to the company's sector and translate them into strategic communication opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop messaging frameworks on policy and regulatory matters.
  • Work closely with Public Policy colleagues on whitepapers, policy strategy, memos etc.

Who You Are

  • A Media Insider: You have an established and active network within Tier 1 national and business media. Journalists take your calls, and editors value your pitches.
  • A Sharp Writer: You can distill complex business, regulatory, or policy topics into clear, compelling narratives — whether it's a 600-word Op-Ed or a crisp press statement.
  • A Strategic Thinker: You understand how media, policy, and public perception connect, and you know how to use communications as a lever for business outcomes.
  • Comfortable with Ambiguity: You have operated in sectors where regulations are still taking shape (fintech, healthtech, edtech, VDAs, gaming, gig economy, etc.) and know how to navigate the communication challenges that come with it.
  • A Trusted Advisor: Senior leaders rely on you for counsel on when to speak, what to say, and how to say it.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Around 6 - 8 years of progressive experience in Journalism, PR, or public affairs.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing pitches, story placements, Op-Eds, and expert commentary in Tier 1 publications.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Experience managing media during sensitive or high-stakes situations including regulatory announcements, crises, or public scrutiny.
  • Strong understanding of India's media landscape, newsroom dynamics, editorial cycles.
  • Prior Journalism experience is a plus.
  • Degree in Journalism, Mass Communication or a related field.
