This role offers the opportunity to lead and influence the design and optimization of high-performance database and data analytics applications on modern GPU architectures. You will work at the intersection of research, software, and hardware, developing techniques that accelerate ETL pipelines, analytics workloads, and complex data-intensive applications. Collaborating with technical experts and cross-functional teams, you will shape next-generation architectures and programming models while optimizing current GPU and CPU-based systems for peak performance. The position requires deep technical expertise, creativity, and hands-on programming experience, combined with the ability to influence both internal teams and external partners. You will have a direct impact on high-visibility, cutting-edge projects in GPU-accelerated data processing, driving both innovation and measurable performance improvements.
Accountabilities:
- Research and develop techniques to GPU-accelerate high-performance databases, ETL, and data analytics applications.
- Analyze and optimize complex, data-intensive workloads in collaboration with experts across industry and academia.
- Influence the design of next-generation hardware, software, and programming models.
- Collaborate with research, hardware, system software, libraries, and tools teams to ensure optimal performance.
- Advise and influence partners to expand the boundaries of GPU-accelerated data processing.
- Contribute to open-source projects and internal frameworks to improve data analytics and machine learning workflows.
- Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a computationally-focused discipline, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of professional experience in software development, data processing, or high-performance computing.
- Fluency in C/C++ programming and strong understanding of algorithms and software design principles.
- Hands-on experience with parallel programming frameworks such as CUDA, OpenACC, OpenMP, MPI, pthreads, or TBB.
- Deep expertise in CPU/GPU architecture fundamentals, including memory subsystems.
- Domain knowledge in high-performance databases, ETL, data analytics, or vector databases.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Preferred: experience optimizing database operators, query planners, vector database indexing, CUDA kernel optimization, and distributed computing architectures.
