JOB PURPOSE
Janes Country Intelligence department is seeking a Senior Research Analyst to conduct open-source research on the political, military, economic, social, information, and infrastructure (PMESII) risk environments, and analyse non-state armed groups’ (NSAGs’) and CBRN activity in the Asia Pacific (APAC).
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AT JANES
- The role requires an analyst with research and writing experience on national security issues within the Asia-Pacific region, with a focus on Southeast Asia.
- The role will involve regularly updating Janes foundational intelligence products (PMESII, Country Stability Indicators, Terrorism & Insurgency, and CBRN reports) and developing current intelligence research on areas of high priority.
- The successful candidate will have experience in delivering high-quality geopolitical data and insight, preferably with a focus on the APAC region.
- The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Janes Events teams and provide feedback on data pertaining to their area of responsibility.
- You will be expected to support the delivery of customer briefings and consultancy projects as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- A comprehensive understanding of national security dynamics across APAC, with a preferred focus on South East Asia.
- Strong OSINT capabilities and knowledge of search, visualisation, and analysis tools to support information collection processes.
- Experience with interpreting and evaluating data to generate in-depth data-driven insight. Familiarity with structured analytical techniques is a plus.
- A proven record of writing analysis on national security related topics, with a focus on the APAC region.
- An effective team worker with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent written English standards.
- A body of previously published work relevant to this role.
- A knowledge of any local languages would be preferable.
- Postgraduate education in a relevant discipline. (desirable)
