The Retail Health Underwriting role at ICICI Lombard is a critical position that ensures the company's success in maintaining profitable underwriting practices without compromising customer service. As a Retail Health Underwriter, your efforts will contribute significantly to managing ICICI Lombard’s overall financial exposure and meeting organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Accurately evaluate the risk involved in insuring potential customers, focusing on various health conditions and lifestyle factors. Strategic analysis of prospective clients based on personal, health, financial, and occupational data is essential.
    • Closely work with the sales team to acquire accurate data about the clients and guide them with their queries related to underwriting.
    • Set appropriate premiums based on evaluated risk level and adhere to ICICI Lombard's underwriting standards and regulations.
    • Ensure procedural compliance in all aspects of underwriting, including documenting decisions, and maintaining accurate records to support effective audit trails.
    • Identify pattern trends, potential fraud, and perform market analysis to help improve and refine underwriting standards. Collaboration with the team and suggestion for improvements in policies and practices is encouraged.
    • Assist in dealing with client grievances and inquiries related to underwriting decisions.

Qualification and Skills:

    • A bachelor's degree or higher in related fields such as finance, economics, or business administration is required. Additional qualifications in insurance or underwriting will be an advantage.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in health insurance retail underwriting is strongly desired.
    • Strong understanding of insurance and underwriting principles, legislations, and financial risk assessment.
    • Excellent analytical, decision-making and negotiation skills. The ability to effectively balance risk with ICICI Lombard's business goals.
    • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel. Familiarity with data analysis tools and underwriting software.
    • Desirable qualities include attention to detail, teamwork, ability to work in face-paced environment and excellent communication skills.
