Job Description - Sales and Estimation - Switchgear

Job Title: Engineer – Sales and Estimation

Department: Sales & Projects
Industry: Electrical Panels – PCC, MCC, IMCC, PDB, MLDB, JB, VFD, PLC Panels
Location: Chennai
Experience: 2-3 years
Joining: Immediate

Job Responsibilities:

  • Interact with customers to generate enquiries and update CRM with enquiry details.

  • Share material enquiries with suppliers and vendors for quotations.

  • Conduct site visits for critical applications to collect data for accurate quotations.

  • Handle technical discussions with customers and vendors for offer alignment.

  • Prepare and submit detailed techno-commercial proposals.

  • Coordinate internally with design, project, and purchase teams for inputs.

  • Generate SAP enquiry and sale order numbers, update CRM and budget sheets.

  • Conduct vendor and customer negotiations to close orders.

  • Take OEMs (Siemens/ABB/Schneider/etc.) to customer sites for technical clarifications if required.

  • Manage order acknowledgement, project file handover, and kick-off meetings.

  • Prepare BOQ, GA drawings, busbar and PC calculations, PS calculation sheets, and techno-commercial offer sheets.

  • Finalize commercial pricing and confirm customer POs.

  • Follow up with vendors for spares and coordinate delivery.

  • Attend weekly sales and marketing review meetings to report progress.

  • Resolve delivery issues with OEMs and customers during project execution.

  • Update CRM with all project and enquiry details.

  • Conduct customer visits (3 unique + 1 new per week), submit reports, and achieve defined weekly sales and enquiry estimation targets.

  • Maintain pipeline of three offers per enquiry, ensure timely submissions, and aim for one target order per week.

  • Participate in CFT meetings and support smooth project handovers.

  • Continuously update knowledge of latest products and solutions.

  • Collect customer feedback regularly and maintain strong vendor relationships.



Requirements

Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma / B.E. in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • Experience: 2–8 years in estimation and sales of electrical panels and automation components

  • Software Proficiency: MS Office (Excel, Word), SAP (basic), CRM software, AutoCAD (basic GA work)

  • Skills:

    • Technical understanding of LT & HT panels and components (Switchgear, PLC, Drives, etc.)

    • Strong communication and customer handling skills

    • Vendor management and negotiation skills

    • Project coordination and documentation ability

    • Target orientation and time management
