Role summary

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Salesforce Marketing Cloud Consultant who will own end-to-end SFMC implementations and act as the technical lead during presales. This person will translate business requirements into scalable SFMC

architectures, build and configure Journeys, Automations, Integrations, and reusable templates, and partner with sales to create technical collateral, POCs, and commercial estimates.

The ideal candidate is technically deep (AMPscript, SSJS, SQL, APIs), experienced with Marketing Cloud modules (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder, Mobile Studio, CloudPages), and comfortable presenting to clients and internal stakeholders.

Work Location: Bangalore

Working hours: UK hours (must be available to work in US shift / overlap with US teams)

Key responsibilities

  • Implementation & Delivery - Lead end-to-end SFMC implementations: requirement workshops, solution design, development, testing, deployment and handover.
  • Design data models (Data Extensions, Contact model, data retention), build ETL/ingest patterns (SFTP / API / middleware), and author SQL query activities and Automation Studio workflows.
  • Configure and develop Journeys (Journey Builder), event-driven sends, transactional APIs, and CloudPages for landing pages and microsites.
  • Build responsive email templates and dynamic content using Content Builder, AMPscript and SSJS; manage message personalization and segmentation.
  • Implement Marketing Cloud Connect with Salesforce Sales/Service Cloud; design synchronization strategies and data flows.
  • Set up deliverability foundations: domain configuration, SPF/DKIM, IP provisioning and warm-up plans, DMARC considerations, suppression lists and deliverability monitoring.
  • Manage deployments and release processes (packaging, version control, deployment checklists, rollback plans).
  • Create runbooks, operational documentation and provide knowledge transfer to client teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and review technical deliverables. Presales & Solutioning - Support sales with technical qualification calls, architecture diagrams, solution decks and cost estimates.
  • Build rapid POCs and demo environments to showcase capabilities and shorten sales cycles.
  • Author technical responses for RFPs and SOWs and provide effort estimates.
  • Prepare sample templates, reusable component libraries and reference
  • implementation guides for proposals.
  • Collaborate with go-to-market to create collateral (capability decks, playbooks, case studies) that highlight our SFMC expertise

Must-have technical skills & experience

  • 3+ years hands-on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Contact Builder).
  • 5+ years overall experience in digital/email marketing technology or related roles. Strong experience writing AMPscript and Server-Side JavaScript (SSJS) for personalization and logic.
  • Proficient in SQL for Marketing Cloud Data Extensions and query activities.
  • Deep knowledge of Content Builder, responsive HTML/CSS email development, and troubleshooting rendering across clients.
  • Experience integrating via REST and SOAP APIs, setting up transactional sends and webhooks.
  • Proven experience with Marketing Cloud Connect (Sales Cloud / Service Cloud integration) and data sync strategies.
  • Practical understanding of deliverability best practices: SPF / DKIM / DMARC, dedicated IPs and IP warm-up planning.
  • Experience with CloudPages / Landing pages, SFTP workflows, data extracts and file drop automations.
  • Good understanding of Analytics & Tracking: data views, tracking extracts, campaign performance reporting and conversion measurement.
  • Excellent debugging skills (logs, activity failures, tracking discrepancies) and hands-on troubleshooting in SFMC.
  • Proven ability to estimate effort and scope: produce reliable SOWs and time/cost estimates.

Nice-to-have / differentiators

  • Salesforce certifications: Marketing Cloud Email Specialist (required), Marketing Cloud Administrator / Developer / Consultant (preferred).
  • Experience with Einstein capabilities in SFMC (Engagement Scoring, Send-Time Optimization) and Personalization Builder.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Data Cloud (CDP), or experience integrating SFMC with a CDP.
  • Experience with middleware / integration platforms (MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Informatica) or custom AWS/Azure integrations.
  • Experience with WhatsApp / SMS channels and third-party messaging providers (Twilio, Infobip).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD workflows for SFMC (SFMC-CLI / Git-based deployments) and using VS Code IDEs for development.
  • Experience working on enterprise-scale accounts, multi-brand or multi-region deployments.
  • Prior presales experience: writing RFP responses, building POCs, and delivering technical demos to clients.

Behavioral / soft skills

  • Strong client-facing and presentation skills — able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and lead technical workshops.
  • Ownership mindset and strong attention to detail — delivers on time and with high quality.
  • Comfortable working US hours (night shift), flexible and reliable in cross-time zone collaboration.
  • Team player who can mentor junior teammates and help grow the SFMC practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Marketing Technology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience with at least 3 years hands-on SFMC delivery experience
