This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SAP ABAP Consultant based in India.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to large-scale SAP transformation and enterprise modernization initiatives across global clients. You will be involved in designing, developing, and optimizing ABAP-based solutions that support critical business processes in ECC and S/4HANA environments. The position requires close collaboration with functional consultants and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions. You will work on a variety of SAP objects, including reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms, ensuring high performance and reliability. The role also involves troubleshooting production issues, improving system efficiency, and maintaining high coding standards. This is a hands-on technical position in a collaborative, agile environment that values innovation, quality delivery, and continuous improvement.
Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with functional consultants and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and translate SAP requirements into technical solutions
- Design, develop, and deploy custom ABAP programs, including reports, interfaces, enhancements, and forms
- Build and maintain SAP objects such as BAPIs, IDocs, RFCs, ALV reports, SmartForms, and AdobeForms
- Perform debugging, performance tuning, and code optimization to ensure high-quality and efficient solutions
- Conduct unit testing and support integration testing to validate deliverables before deployment
- Provide production support, troubleshoot issues, and ensure timely resolution within defined SLAs
- Document technical specifications and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices
- Mentor junior developers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development in ECC or S/4HANA environments
- Strong proficiency in both procedural and object-oriented ABAP programming
- Experience in developing ALV reports, SmartForms, AdobeForms, BAPIs, IDocs, and RFC-based interfaces
- Solid understanding of performance tuning, debugging techniques, and code optimization practices
- Familiarity with version control tools such as Git and experience with unit testing frameworks
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies and strong communication skills
- Experience with SAP S/4HANA enhancements such as CDS Views, AMDP, and BOPF is a plus
- Knowledge of SAP Fiori/UI5, OData services, and system integration using REST/SOAP APIs is an advantage
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, transport management, and DevOps practices is preferred
- SAP ABAP certification or related credentials will be considered a strong plus
- Ability to collaborate effectively in distributed and remote teams
