SAP Basis Lead Consultant

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in SAP Basis operations, SAP RISE service management, landscape monitoring, incident resolution, SAP BTP administration, SAP Cloud Connector, and monitoring of integrations involving SAP Ariba and other cloud applications.

The consultant will act as the primary technical coordinator between the internal SAP team, application teams, integration teams, infrastructure/security teams, SAP Enterprise Cloud Services, and SAP Product Support.

Key Responsibilities

SAP RISE Operations and Coordination

• Manage day-to-day SAP Basis activities for the SAP RISE landscape from the customer side.
  
  


• Act as the primary technical contact for SAP RISE operational and Basis-related matters.
  
  


• Raise, monitor, and follow up on incidents, service requests, and change requests with SAP through the relevant SAP support and service channels.
  
  


• Coordinate SAP-managed activities such as system maintenance, patching, upgrades, kernel updates, database activities, certificate renewals, and infrastructure changes.
  
  


• Review SAP-provided maintenance plans, technical recommendations, outage notifications, and service reports.
  
  


• Coordinate planned downtime and technical changes with business, functional, integration, and infrastructure teams.
  
  


• Track SAP support cases through to closure and ensure timely escalation of critical issues.
  
  


• Clearly distinguish between customer-managed activities and SAP-managed responsibilities within the RISE operating model.
  
  

SAP Landscape Monitoring

• Perform proactive monitoring of SAP S/4HANA and the associated SAP landscape.
  
  


• Monitor system availability, application servers, background jobs, interfaces, dumps, system logs, work processes, spool, update failures, RFC connections, and system performance.
  
  


• Monitor HANA database health, resource utilization, alerts, backup status, capacity, and performance in coordination with SAP RISE operations.
  
  


• Review EarlyWatch Alert reports and coordinate corrective actions with the relevant teams.
  
  


• Monitor production and non-production environments and provide daily or periodic health-check reports.
  
  


• Investigate recurring alerts, identify root causes, and recommend preventive actions.
  
  


• Support availability, performance, capacity, and operational risk management.
  
  

Security, Connectivity, and Certificates

• Monitor SAP-related certificates and ensure proactive renewal before expiry.
  
  


• Support SSL/TLS, PSE, STRUST, SSO, SNC, OAuth, SAML, and connectivity-related configurations.
  
  


• Coordinate with cybersecurity and network teams for firewall, DNS, proxy, IP allow listing, port, and routing requirements.
  
  


• Support SAP user administration and role-related technical troubleshooting in coordination with the SAP Security team.
  
  


• Review technical users, RFC users, communication users, and integration credentials for validity and expiry.
  
  


• Ensure technical changes follow security, audit, and compliance requirements.
  
  

Requirements

• Minimum 9 years of overall SAP Basis experience.
  
  


• Proven experience as a SAP Basis Lead or Senior SAP Basis Consultant.
  
  


• Hands-on experience supporting an SAP RISE with SAP landscape from the customer/client side.
  
  


• Strong knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Basis administration and SAP HANA operations.
  
  


• Experience coordinating Basis and infrastructure activities with SAP Enterprise Cloud Services or SAP RISE operations teams.
  
  


• Strong experience in system monitoring, performance analysis, troubleshooting, and incident management.

• Strong communication, coordination, stakeholder-management, and technical-documentation skills.
  
  


• Ability to independently lead technical troubleshooting and coordinate with multiple support teams.
