SAP BODS Upgrade Specialist

We are seeking an experienced SAP BODS Upgrade Specialist to lead and support platform upgrades, repository migrations, environment transitions, and troubleshooting activities. The resource will be responsible for executing the BI Data Services upgrade from version 4.3 to the 2025 release across multiple towers. Deep SAP BI experience is required for this position.

Key Responsibilities

SAP BODS Upgrade & Migration

• Plan, coordinate, and execute SAP BODS version upgrades across Development, QA, and Production environments.
  


• Perform repository migration activities (Local, Central, Profiler).
  


• Migrate jobs, dataflows, workflows, custom scripts, and configurations.
  


• Validate ETL job compatibility with upgraded versions.
  


• Execute post‑upgrade testing, production cutover, and rollback plans.
  

Troubleshooting & Support

• Resolve issues during upgrades, migrations, and repository conversions.
  


• Troubleshoot Job Server, Access Server, Management Console, and Designer issues.
  


• Investigate job failures, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity problems.
  


• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures.
  

Administration & Maintenance

• Install, configure, and maintain SAP BODS environments.
  


• Manage repositories, security settings, users, and access controls.
  


• Configure Job Servers, Repository Managers, and Data Services Management Console.
  


• Monitor system health, performance, and ETL execution.
  

Performance Optimization

• Tune ETL jobs and data flows for efficiency.
  


• Optimize database interactions (Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA, Sybase).
  


• Resolve resource utilization issues impacting job execution.
  

Documentation & Compliance

• Create upgrade runbooks, migration plans, and technical documentation.
  


• Maintain upgrade/migration reports.
  


• Ensure adherence to organizational governance and change management standards.
  

? Required Skills

• 7–8 years of hands‑on experience in SAP BODS upgrades and support.
  


• Strong expertise in SAP BODS administration, repository migrations, and ETL design.
  


• Knowledge of Central/Local Repository, Job Server, Access Server, Management Console, Data Services Designer.
  


• Strong SQL/database skills (Oracle, SQL Server, SAP HANA, Sybase).
  


• Experience with Linux and Windows server environments.
  


• Deep understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data integration architectures.
  

Troubleshooting Skills

• Repository upgrade issue resolution.
  


• Job execution failure analysis.
  


• Metadata migration troubleshooting.
  


• Database connectivity issue resolution.
  


• Performance tuning and log analysis.
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience with SAP BW, ECC, S/4HANA integrations.
  


• Knowledge of SAP Information Steward.
  


• SAP Basis and server administration exposure.
  


• Familiarity with automation/scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Python).
