SAP BTP - ABAP Lead

We seek a highly experienced and strategic SAP Offshore SAP ABAP lead, to lead and oversee the implementation and optimization of RISE with SAP S/4HANA solutions for our clients who are into downstream oil and gas operations. This role seeks an experienced RISE with SAP S/4HANA ABAP lead, for development, customization, and optimization of SAP S/4HANA applications using ABAP to meet complex business requirements. Lead ABAP development in RISE with SAP S/4HANA by designing, developing, and optimizing custom applications and reports in cloud-based environments.

Key Responsibilities: Solution Architecture and Design:

• Design, develop, and implement ABAP programs, reports, interfaces, forms, and enhancements to improve system functionality, efficiency, and user experience.
• Manage data migration activities using native tools like Data Migration Cockpit, BAPIs, and IDocs for effective data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
• Conduct performance tuning for ABAP programs, SQL queries, and database optimization to ensure efficient system response times and memory management.
• Design, develop, and maintain SAP Fiori /UI5 applications and integrate them with ABAP programming to deliver seamless user interface experiences.
• Ensure successful integration between SAP and non-SAP systems using ABAP-based techniques such as ALE, EDI, and web services.
• Implement and enhance SAP workflow processes to streamline business operations and improve system efficiency.
• Drive SAP S/4HANA upgrades, migrations, and system conversions, ensuring ABAP code compatibility and resolving related issues during transitions.
• Work with SAP BASIS and security teams to manage user roles, authorizations, and integrate ABAP applications seamlessly into the SAP landscape.
• Manage SAP system migrations from legacy SAP environments (ECC) to S/4HANA Cloud, ensuring smooth data integrity and migration of legacy ABAP applications.
• Design and develop CDS Views, OData services and integrate SAP Fiori apps to enhance user experience in SAP S/4HANA Cloud environments.
• Implement user exits and enhancements in SAP S/4HANA systems to optimize existing functionality, improving performance and meeting business needs.
• Oversee the development of batch jobs and background processes, focusing on system performance and scalability in cloud-based SAP environments.

Implementation Leadership:

• Lead ABAP, ensuring adherence to coding standards, best practices, and knowledge sharing within the development team.
• Act as a subject matter expert for ABAP in cross-functional projects, providing insights into technical feasibility and design approaches.
• Guide the full lifecycle implementation of SAP S/4HANA, leveraging SAP Activate Methodology, including Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, and Run.
• Oversee data migration strategies and integration with third-party systems, ensuring seamless functionality and data integrity.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for technical and functional teams, providing hands-on leadership and mentorship.

Stakeholder Engagement:

• Collaborate closely with functional consultants to translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications for ABAP development.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the timely and successful delivery of ABAP development tasks within project timelines.
• Facilitate workshops and design sessions to understand business needs and recommend solutions.
• Present architecture proposals and project updates to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Performance Optimization:

• Ensure high-quality coding and performance tuning of custom applications, adhering to best practices for optimal system performance.
• Provide technical leadership for performance tuning, system upgrades, and scalability enhancements.

Governance and Compliance:

• Ensure all solutions adhere to organizational IT standards, industry regulations, and SAP best practices.
• Establish and enforce governance policies for SAP S/4HANA usage and customization.
• Understanding of SAP Cloud Application Lifecycle Management is a plus

Qualifications and Skills: Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 12+ years of SAP experience, with 5+ years in a principal role.
• Extensive experience in SAP S/4HANA implementations, preferably in downstream oil and gas industries.

Technical Expertise:

• Stay up-to-date with emerging ABAP technologies and SAP S/4HANA innovations, continuously enhancing ABAP development techniques and skills.
• Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA, and its integrations with other applications SAP BTP-Integration Suite, SAP Analytics Cloud, IS-Oil, SAC, SAP CX (Commerce Cloud, CPQ, Sales Cloud, Service Cloud).
• Implement and optimize SAP Fiori applications for end-users to enhance user experience, making the business processes more efficient and mobile-friendly for procurement, sales, finance, and customer service teams.
• Knowledge of integration tools (e.g., SAP Integration Suite, SAP PI/PO, APIs) and data migration frameworks.

Leadership and Communication:

• Collaborate with other value streams such as finance, supply chain, and IT to ensure the ABAP activities that aligns with organizational goals, address bottlenecks, and resolve system or process issues.
• Exceptional ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex project environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a consultative mindset.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
