Job Description - Senior Account Manager

Job Summary:

We seek a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant with expertise in Indian accounting standards and costing practices. The ideal candidate will manage and oversee the accounting department's daily operations, ensure accurate and timely financial records, and provide cost analysis and financial reporting to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting & Financial Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in compliance with Indian accounting standards (Ind AS).
  • Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Coordinate with auditors for annual audits and resolve audit queries.

Cost Accounting:

  • Develop and maintain cost accounting systems to ensure accurate product costing and inventory valuation.
  • Analyze cost variances and prepare detailed cost reports.
  • Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights into cost drivers and potential cost-saving opportunities.

Taxation & Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including GST, TDS, and other applicable taxes.
  • Prepare and file tax returns and ensure timely payment of taxes.
  • Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and regulations and advise management on implications.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement:

  • Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard company assets.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices in accounting and costing.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Team Management:

  • Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective cost management.

Financial Analysis & Decision Support:

  • Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as required by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A professional qualification such as CA, CMA, or CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in accounting and costing, preferably in a manufacturing or similar industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian accounting standards (Ind AS) and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Tally, SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Tally ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of cost accounting standards and methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

  • This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel to other client locations as required.
