Job Description Summary

Responsible for Master data by coordinating the organization's quality, security, and maintenance of data. Ensures sufficient data quality is maintained to effectively support the business and business processes. Assist with creating requirements for changes to master data models as well as maintaining data integrity within the MDM tool. Ensures compliance within the data governance policies to resolve data quality requests and issues and will work in a highly collaborative manner with several departments across the company. This is a 24x7 operations team, and candidates must be open to working in rotational shifts.

Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

  • Create, update, and maintain master data records (e.g., material, vendor,) in SAP MDG and other systems.
  • Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems by performing regular audits and validations.
  • Respond to data requests and issues from business users, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to data standards.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to support data-related projects, including migrations, transformations, and system enhancements.
  • Monitor data quality metrics and support root cause analysis for recurring data issues.
  • Execute Data Quality Roadmap, improving data quality monitoring, issue resolution, and dashboarding capabilities.
  • Participate in projects involving upstream and downstream data flows and processes to ensure compliance with data governance policy.
  • Create reporting around data governance progress for key stakeholders and management.
  • Recommend changes to improve process efficiencies and ensure timely, professional communication to users, management, and senior leadership regarding repetitive issues.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams to validate adherence to master data policies and communicate non-adherence where appropriate.
  • Analyze data and process issues as raised by the business, IT, or self/department, assess impact, and create/execute action plans as needed.
  • Utilize analytical skills to identify trends (using Excel for analysis).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify reporting requirements and translate them into effective reporting solutions.
  • Evaluate and identify gaps between current and future state data models and create data remediation plans.
  • Perform validation and corrections via audit reports to ensure daily standardization.
  • Drive the development of a data roadmap for the identified domain, working with business and Data Management (IT) teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on data management processes for the assigned domain and be knowledgeable about business processes while leveraging data.
  • Document business rules and other metadata for the domain and support the creation of data quality monitoring based on this.
  • Develop standard procedures, user guides, and other necessary training and job aid materials; provide training as needed.
  • Lead cultural change for data management and governance functions by implementing enterprise strategies, policies, and standards within assigned domains.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure proper execution of the data model.
  • Develop and manage reporting solutions, including dashboards, reports, and visualizations that meet business requirements and support organizational growth.
  • Support onboarding and training of users on MDM processes and tools.
  • Participate in testing and validation activities during system upgrades or process changes.
  • Provide support for reporting and dashboarding needs related to master data.
  • Ensure compliance with internal data policies and external regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data accurately.
  • Analytical mindset with proficiency in Excel for data analysis and issue tracking.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and apply problem-solving skills to deal creatively with complex situations.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems; makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
  • Independently perform assignments with instruction limited to expected results; determines and develops approaches to solutions.
  • Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring, and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in Master Data Management, preferably in Material Master Data.
  • 3+ years’ experience in MDM or MDG
  • Experience working with S4 Hana, SAP MDG and Oracle systems.
  • Strong business and economic thinking.
  • Strong understanding of data management concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to understand data models, data taxonomy, and a deep appreciation of data standards and data quality.
  • Exposure to transformation or ERP implementation projects is desirable.
