Senior Backend Engineer

Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to build services and APIs that deliver commercial data to the Commercial and Data teams of a global consumer health company. The role involves developing GraphQL APIs on Snowflake, building NestJS services, and using Redis to keep queries fast. You’ll work directly with US-based stakeholders, so clear spoken and written English is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript.


• Build GraphQL schemas and resolvers that make commercial datasets accessible to frontend and analytics teams.


• Write efficient SQL on Snowflake and integrate external data into a consistent data foundation.


• Use Redis for caching, session management, and performance tuning.


• Manage CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and follow a disciplined Git branching workflow.


• Make and document architecture decisions that support security, scalability, and maintainability.


• Use GitHub Copilot and agentic AI tools, reviewing their output carefully.


• Work in Agile sprints and keep stakeholders informed about progress, risks, and trade-offs.


• Lead calls with US stakeholders and explain technical decisions clearly to non-technical audiences.

Mandatory Skills

• 4+ years of hands-on experience building production backend systems.


• Strong working knowledge of Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript.


• Experience designing GraphQL APIs and microservices.


• Experience with Redis caching, session management, and performance optimization.


• Strong SQL skills and hands-on data integration with Snowflake.


• Experience with Azure or AWS, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Git branching.


• Regular use of GitHub Copilot or agentic AI development tools.


• Understanding of security, scalability, and performance considerations in backend architecture.


• Experience working in Agile or Scrum teams.


• Excellent spoken and written English, including stakeholder communication.


• Understanding of sell-out, point-of-sale (POS), and syndicated market data, such as IQVIA or Circana, and concepts such as market share, growth, and competitive insights.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with event-driven architecture and messaging systems.


• REST API development and third-party integrations.


• Experience with data-intensive applications or analytics platforms.


• Exposure to Data Science or AI applications.


• Background in CPG, FMCG, or Consumer Health.
