Job Description – Asst Manager: Mechanical Design & Validation

Position Title: Asst Manager – Mechanical Design & Validation

Location: Baddi, Himachal Pradesh

Department: Engineering / Mechanical Design

Role Summary:

The Deputy Manager – Mechanical Design & Validation will be responsible for leading mechanical design activities, validating engineering drawings and components, and ensuring accurate layout preparation. The role involves coordination with cross-functional teams to ensure design quality, compliance, and timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical Drawing Creation & Validation

• Lead the creation, review, and validation of mechanical drawings.


• Ensure compliance with relevant standards, specifications, and company guidelines.


• Approve and validate detailed engineering drawings for manufacturing and execution.

CAD Design (AutoCAD)

• Develop and review 2D/3D designs using AutoCAD or similar tools.


• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation of all design files.


• Guide team members in design best practices and tool usage.

Mechanical Part Validation

• Validate mechanical components, assemblies, and systems against technical requirements.


• Conduct fitment, tolerance, and functionality checks.


• Collaborate with quality, production, and project teams for validation processes.

Layout Preparation

• Prepare and review plant/equipment layouts and mechanical arrangements.


• Optimize layouts for space utilization, safety, and operational efficiency.


• Support project planning, installation, and commissioning activities.

Team Management & Coordination

• Lead and mentor team members, ensuring timely completion of design tasks.


• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (projects, QA/QC, procurement).


• Ensure adherence to project timelines and deliverables.

Required Skills & Competencies:

• Strong expertise in mechanical design and drawing standards


• Hands-on experience with AutoCAD (mandatory)


• Knowledge of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies


• Experience in design validation and quality checks


• Good understanding of layout planning and industrial setups


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


• Effective communication and team management abilities

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering


• 6–10 years of experience in mechanical design and validation roles


• Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with additional CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, etc.)


• Familiarity with industry standards (ISO, ASME, etc.)


• Exposure to manufacturing/plant engineering environments
