You will be joining a dynamic global engineering team within the CAA division at Whirlpool's Global Technology & Engineering Center (GTEC) in Pune. As part of a Fortune 500 leader in consumer durables, our team plays a critical role in strategic competitive category and brand architecture analysis, partnering with global design, target costing, and product management teams to drive value creation and competitive advantage
The Engineer, Mechanical Cost Modeling is responsible for the development of robust cost models for plastic components. This role involves strategic competitive category and brand architecture analysis to consistently deliver vital architecture insights to various platforms, supporting Whirlpool’s commitment to innovation and leadership values
Responsible for Cost Model development of plastics & Sheet Metal commodity, working in close interaction with the Design Team, and Product Management (Plant GSS) Team,Manufacturing Team.
Apply familiarity with injection tools & Sheet Metal dies , their components, and basic knowledge of other plastics/Sheet Metal processing methods and tooling.
Support core activities in competitive manufacturing process analysis, including the creation and maintenance of status, trends, and reports.
Complete competitive manufacturing analysis, developing manufacturing sequence charts and process insights through the teardown and documentation of competitive products.
Provide direct input to communication matrices by partnering with the CAA Architecture Analysis team.
Document and enter data into the competitive manufacturing process database to inform internal Whirlpool manufacturing process documentation and practices.
Utilize technical tools and software for tool design, costing analysis, and data reporting.
Performing the costing for injection molding parts and Sheet Metal Parts.
Conducting a teardown of various products and preparing detailed analysis reports.
Competitive Category and Brand Architecture Analysis Report.
Competitive Communication Matrix.
Providing insight into the competition analysis of Design and Architecture.
Exploring opportunities in new regions to exceed platform expectations.
Knowledge Management: Developing knowledge documents and driving the reuse of knowledge & tools.
Educational Qualification: B.Tech/BE (Mechanical).
Experience: 4 to 6 years of relevant experience.
Basic knowledge of manufacturing/engineering processes, materials, and systems.
Exposure or experience working in a global engineering team environment.
TECHNICAL
Conceptual & Analytical Skills.
Knowledge of Costing tools (such as aPriori DFMA) and basic awareness of costing tool applications.
Knowledge of CAD tools (Creo 2.0 or 4.0) and PLM Software (Windchill).
Basic knowledge of Data Analytics and Reporting Tools (Tableau / Data Studio).
Expertise in Project Management tools (PMP trained/certified preferred).
MANAGERIAL
Customer Centricity.
Very strong written and verbal business communication skills, alongside solid presentation skills.
Team player with high flexibility in adapting to quickly changing business tasks and project priorities.
