WSP is seeking a Senior Engineer - OLE to join our Rail & Transit team. In this role, you will work collaboratively with engineers and specialists across Sweden, Romania, and India to deliver detailed design and drawing packages for railway and transit projects in Sweden. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to large, complex projects while applying your technical expertise, strengthening multidisciplinary coordination, and supporting the development of high-quality OLE solutions
Technical and Design Responsibilities
Deliver OLE design packages for Swedish Rail projects across feasibility, concept, detailed, and IFC stages
Prepare and review the following design deliverables:
o OLE layout plans, cross-sections, and sectioning diagrams
o Wire run schedules, dropper schedules, and conductor allocation
o Foundation and mast schedules
o Clearance and electrical safety studies
o Loading calculations and design reports
Ensure designs comply with Swedish Rail (Trafikverket) requirements and relevant EN / IEC standards
o Apply system engineering principles and coordinate OLE designs with track, signalling, telecom, civil, and structural disciplines.
Independently lead OLE design tasks and provide technical guidance and mentoring to the OLE team
Coordination and Delivery
o Coordinate with multidisciplinary global teams across India, Nordics, UK, and other regions
o Interface with Design Managers and Project Managers to meet programme, quality, and budget objectives.
o Support technical reviews, IDC / IDR processes, and client submissions.
o Mentor and technically guide junior engineers and designers.
o Contribute to continuous improvement of OLE design standards, templates, and workflows.
Quality, Safety and Compliance
o Ensure compliance with WSP Quality, HSE, and Project Management systems
o Deliver designs aligned with safe-by-design principles
o Support audits, lessons learned, and best-practice sharing across projects
Education
o bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
o Master's degree or professional certification is an advantage.
Experience
o 8-12+ years of experience in Railway OLE / Electrification design.
o Proven experience on mainline rail electrification projects.
o Prior exposure to European / Nordic rail projects (Sweden preferred) is highly desirable o Experience working in international delivery models and multi-cultural teams
Technical Skills & Knowledge
o Strong knowledge of Overhead Line Equipment systems, including:
o Catenary and contact wire systems
o Auto-tensioning systems
o Mast, portal, and foundation arrangements
o Familiarity with European and Swedish standards (EN / IEC / Trafikverket guidelines)
o Ability to perform and review electrical and structural loading calculations
o Understanding of interfaces with signalling (EMC), track geometry, and civil structures
o Ability to read electrical drawings and understand the relationships between key design documents and reporting requirements, including installation plans, cable lists, wiring diagrams, object lists, grounding schemes, single-line diagrams, 2D and 3D model files, technical building or station drawings, and main wiring diagrams.
Software Skills
o Bentley MicroStation (essential)
o Projectwise
o Experience with OLE design tools such as:
o OLEMI / UKMS / Mark-3B (or equivalent international tools)
o Bentley OpenRail and ProjectWise (preferred)
o AutoCAD and related CAD/BIM tools
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, particularly Word and Excel o Familiarity with collaborative digital workspaces such as OneNote
