Senior Engineering Manager

JOB PROFILE:

The Senior Engineering Manager will manage and mentor highly motivated, skilled engineering teams while providing technical architecture, system design oversight to ensure we deliver the best possible software solutions and generate value through cost savings or incremental business value. Our environment is fast-paced, and time-to-market is critical to the success of our organization.

This position will be part of a dynamic team that is dedicated to delivering applications for high-quality, on-time software releases leveraging best-of-breed Agile and DevOps practices with a focus on how to enable the operations of those applications through a combination of infrastructure solutioning, continuous delivery & integration, and efficient system sustainment planning.

This position is responsible for leading technical design, development, delivery, and maintenance of applications while managing respective agile work-streams closely in an environment supporting multiple business lines with often competing prioritization concerns. Developing effective working relationships with various stakeholders, interacting with key business partners to identify their priorities and recommending solutions that best meet the strategic needs of the business is required.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Technology Leadership

• Provide strategic leadership for the engineering department, aligning technology initiatives with organizational goals.

• Drive the success of the implementation by applying technical skills, to design and build enhanced processes and technical solutions in support of strategic initiatives.

Team Management:

• Hire the top-talent and build teams enabling them to be high performing agile teams.

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

• Set clear goals and expectations for the engineering teams and monitor their progress.

• Team enablement, performance management, team building, and succession planning within an agile environment.

Technology Expertise:

• Possess a deep understanding of MS Azure Cloud platform, .NET, .NET Core, SQL Server and Microsoft Power Automate.

• Provide technical guidance and oversight to ensure the delivery of cutting-edge and scalable solutions.

• Critically analyze the requirements, designs and propose alternative solutions.

• Proposing and driving key technology decisions with senior technology leaders

Project and Product Management:

• Oversee the end-to-end development lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.

• Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize features and enhancements.

• Capture, mitigate and /or escalate risks & issues in a timely fashion.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Work closely with multiple departments, including product management, operations, to align engineering efforts with overall business objectives.

• Foster a culture of collaboration and effective communication across teams.

Quality Assurance:

• Implement and maintain high-quality standards for software development.

• Drive the adoption of best practices in coding, testing, and deployment.

• Ability to log, track, and manage issues, bugs, and enhancement/ features requests logged in Azure DevOps.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TECHNICAL SKILLSETS:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technology subject area required.

• 12+ years’ experience, with at least 2-3 years as Engineering Manager.

• Previous experience working in a Product-based organization or GIC/GCC. (Preferred)

• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in C# and .NET Core.

• Familiarity with Azure Services, such as Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Storage, and Azure SQL Database. Knowledge in Serverless architecture a strong plus.

• Good understanding of development practices and tools in DevOps, Release Engineering and Infrastructure Management (Git, Azure DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes etc.).

• Engineering knowledge, awareness on other technology areas like RPA, Database (SQL, No-SQL), Information Security. (Preferred).

• Excellent Engineering Rigor - Code Quality, Performance Tuning, Operational Excellence etc. Drive Best Practices of Code Reviews, Design Reviews and Architecture Reviews.

• Experience with entire software development lifecycle (Agile, SDLC, Iterative) with metrics-backed decisions during all phases of SDLC

• Experience in resourcing, staffing and very strong delivery of technical solutions with a given budget

• Excellent organization skills and ability to effectively multitask in a dynamic and fast paced work environment.

• ITIL understanding and familiarity with modern application architecture design patterns.

• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and ability to communicate effectively with business owners in escalated or tense situations.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Flexibility and positive attitude to achieve tight deadlines.

• Strong balance of business and technical skills and ability to “translate” technical concepts clearly to non-technical decision-makers.

• Rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
