This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Engineering Manager - Data Platform based in India.
This role sits at the core of a modern, AI-first data platform organization, responsible for shaping the foundational systems that power enterprise-scale data and AI applications. You will lead high-impact engineering teams building distributed platform primitives that enable reliable ingestion, governance, search, and serving of massive datasets. The environment is highly technical, fast-moving, and deeply product-driven, requiring strong architectural thinking and hands-on leadership. You will define how enterprise data becomes trusted, structured context for AI systems and downstream applications. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will influence platform strategy while ensuring execution excellence across large-scale, cloud-native systems. This is a role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving deep systems challenges, and wants to build infrastructure that operates at global scale.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the design, development, and evolution of core data platform systems including ingestion pipelines, metadata services, and distributed storage and search layers
- Own delivery of scalable, secure, and highly available platform infrastructure operating at large enterprise scale
- Define and drive architecture decisions for multi-tenant systems, reliability frameworks, and high-performance services
- Guide technical execution through design reviews, RFCs, and hands-on problem solving for distributed systems challenges
- Build, mentor, and grow engineering managers and senior engineers while fostering strong engineering culture and delivery discipline
- Define operational excellence practices including SLOs, incident response, observability, and system reliability standards
- Ensure alignment between engineering execution, platform strategy, and business goals
Requirements:
- Extensive experience building and scaling data platforms, distributed systems, or core infrastructure services
- Proven experience leading engineering teams, including managing managers in platform or SaaS environments
- Strong expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, and high-availability system design
- Hands-on experience with data infrastructure such as ingestion systems, metadata platforms, search, or storage layers
- Strong understanding of reliability engineering, SLOs, and production system operations at scale
- Ability to connect technical decisions with product and business outcomes
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with experience managing global, distributed teams
- Strong ability to operate in ambiguous environments and drive clarity and execution
