Job Description - Senior Executive - Business Development (Pharma)

This role is for one of Weekday’s clients
Salary range: Rs 480000 - Rs 600000 (ie INR 4.8-6 LPA)
Min Experience: 4 years

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Executive – Business Development (Pharma) to spearhead our international marketing and client acquisition initiatives in the pharmaceutical sector. This role is ideal for professionals with a solid understanding of the global pharmaceutical landscape, a proven track record in driving international sales, and a passion for expanding business in regulated and semi-regulated markets.

As a key member of the business development team, you will be responsible for identifying global growth opportunities, building client relationships, and ensuring compliance with international regulatory frameworks. Your strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally will be vital in aligning business objectives with market needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • International Business Expansion:
    Develop and implement business development strategies to acquire new clients and expand the company's footprint in international pharmaceutical markets.
  • Client Identification & Relationship Management:
    Identify potential overseas clients, distributors, and partners through market research, exhibitions, and digital channels. Establish and nurture long-term professional relationships.
  • Market Research & Analysis:
    Conduct in-depth market analysis to understand trends, regulatory frameworks, and competitor activities in various regions including the US, EU, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East.
  • Sales & Revenue Generation:
    Work towards achieving revenue targets by promoting products to international clients. Prepare commercial proposals, negotiate deals, and close business contracts effectively.
  • Regulatory & Documentation Coordination:
    Coordinate with regulatory teams to ensure timely and accurate submission of dossiers, product registrations, and other documentation required by global authorities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Liaise with R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and logistics teams to ensure timely product availability and market readiness.
  • Client Servicing & After-Sales Support:
    Act as the primary point of contact for international clients, ensuring prompt resolution of queries and seamless delivery of products and services.
  • Reporting & Pipeline Management:
    Maintain detailed records of leads, prospects, and client interactions. Prepare regular reports on market performance, forecasts, and pipeline status for senior leadership.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm / M.Pharm) or MBA with a specialization in Marketing, International Business, or related fields.
  • Experience:
    Minimum 4–5 years of experience in international business development or sales within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Industry Knowledge:
    Strong understanding of pharmaceutical formulations, product life cycles, regulatory requirements, and global market dynamics.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
    • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
    • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools
