Senior Executive - Maintenance Engineer

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Plant & Facility Maintenance

• Ensure the efficient and uninterrupted operation of tissue culture laboratories, aeroponic growing systems, greenhouses, cold storage units, utilities, irrigation, and fertigation infrastructure.


• Diagnose and resolve complex electrical, mechanical, automation, and instrumentation challenges swiftly to minimize production impact.


• Drive initiatives to improve equipment reliability, extending asset lifespan, and reducing downtime.

Automation & Control Systems

• Oversee the maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of PLC, SCADA, and other automation control systems critical to operational performance.


• Vigilantly monitor alarms, operational trends, data logs, and control system outputs to preemptively address potential issues.


• Contribute to engineering projects that include system modifications, technology upgrades, and process optimization for enhanced productivity.

HVAC, Refrigeration & Utilities

• Manage and maintain HVAC units, chillers, air handling units (AHUs), refrigeration equipment, and environmental controls to uphold strict temperature and humidity standards.


• Implement energy conservation measures and promote utility efficiency in compliance with sustainability goals.


• Coordinate with maintenance teams to ensure these systems contribute to optimal environmental conditions for sensitive biological materials and produce.

Greenhouse & Aeroponic Systems

• Maintain and monitor fan-pad cooling, ventilation systems, pumps, motors, valves, sensors, and environmental controllers to ensure consistent operation.


• Safeguard uninterrupted functioning of irrigation, fertigation, and other critical environmental control systems that support plant growth.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Develop comprehensive preventive maintenance schedules tailored to equipment requirements and operational demands.


• Maintain detailed logs of equipment history, inspection records, and maintenance activities to support data-driven decision making.


• Track maintenance performance metrics including equipment uptime, mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and maintenance costs to continuously improve asset management.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure strict adherence to electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and workplace safety regulations and standards.


• Implement and oversee Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) procedures, conduct thorough risk assessments, and promote a culture of safety throughout the facility.


• Support and participate in safety audits, inspections, and manage contractor safety processes to maintain a secure working environment.

Continuous Improvement

• Lead strategic projects aimed at enhancing automation capabilities, boosting reliability, increasing energy efficiency, and reducing operational costs.


• Stay abreast of industry best practices to continuously innovate and optimize facility performance and maintenance strategies.

Team & Vendor Management

• Collaborate closely with production, operations, quality, and engineering teams to align maintenance activities with business objectives.


• Effectively manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers to ensure quality and timely delivery of maintenance services.


• Ensure the availability of critical spare parts and materials, while exercising vigilant control over the maintenance budget to maximize value.

Experience

• A robust background of 5 to 10 years in roles focused on maintenance and operations within industrial environments such as tissue culture, seed production, greenhouse management, aeroponics, cold storage, or automated manufacturing.


• Demonstrated experience working within controlled-environment agricultural systems or similar sectors is highly valued, bringing insight into specialized equipment and process requirements.


• Proven track record of troubleshooting complex electrical, mechanical, and automation systems to maintain high operational uptime.


• Experience in leading maintenance teams, managing vendor partnerships, and spearheading continuous improvement projects is preferred.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) from a recognized institution is required.


• Additional certifications related to automation systems (PLC/SCADA), maintenance management, or safety standards would be advantageous.


• Continual professional development through workshops or training in emerging technologies, energy management, and safety compliance is encouraged.
