Job Description

The Senior Manager – Supplier Management role is responsible for managing and developing the capabilities and productivity of our suppliers to provide excellent service to authors, editors, reviewers and internal customers. The holder of the role is accountable for managing a diverse portfolio of outsourced peer review and editorial services for the Researcher Services operations and directing a team of Supplier Service Delivery Managers.

The Senior Manager – Supplier Management is expected to define and drive continually improving service standards, build strategic relationship with the internal stakeholders and with the external supplier partners.

New business challenges constantly arise, and this role needs to manage, motivate and support the team against a backdrop of change.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Creating and setting budgets and service expectations, overseeing SLAs and contracts.
  • Developing and implementing purchasing and/or procurement strategies, in alignment with departmental objectives.
  • Monitor direct costs effectively against budget on agreed reporting cycles.
  • Variance analysis and reporting on trends and identifying appropriate actions.
  • Developing a detailed knowledge of how supplier processes work to collaborate on problem solving, defect management and sharing best practice.
  • Identify opportunities for change at the portfolio level and actively promote the benefits to key stakeholders.
  • Resource &Operational planning.
  • Build and develop relationships with key suppliers, assist in building effective partnerships.
  • Monitor supplier compliance aligned with company requirements for Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) and relevant legislation.
  • Supporting suppliers to recruit and train staff in line with T&F standards, ethos and vision.
  • Quality management.
  • Technical and commercial awareness of industry and developments.
  • Creating, maintaining and controlling process documentation.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Monitoring and managing supplier and staff performance and providing constructive feedback to ensure high quality outputs.
  • Accurate reporting, oversight of data governance, providing reports for different audiences.
  • Staff management including recruitment and training of new staff.
  • Accountability for team performance and developing expertise within the team.
  • Performance management, coaching and motivating a team to meet objectives and targets.
Qualifications
  • A postgraduate qualification in STM or HSS scientific discipline.
  • Publishing industry and market awareness.
  • Experience of working with external suppliers and partners.
  • Experience of setting and managing budgets and financial reporting.
  • Proven project management skills, understanding of project planning and stakeholder management and knowledge of relevant tools.
  • Prior experience in managing a team of 5–8 staff and coach them towards high performance.
  • Proficiency in coaching, mentoring, and adapting to others’ learning styles.
  • Demonstrated experience of data analysis and experience of working with large datasets.

This role is based at our India - New Delhi office.

You must have the right to live and work in India.
