We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead end-to-end mechanical design and development of robotic systems and peripheral structures—from proof of concept through production and sustaining phases. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, hands-on execution capability, and strong leadership skills to drive high-quality, reliable, and manufacturable solutions across complex engineering programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for robotic and electro-mechanical subsystems, ensuring cross-functional alignment from concept to production.
  • Apply strong engineering judgment for material selection, design methodologies, and validation approaches to achieve performance and manufacturability goals.
  • Plan and execute internal design reviews with comprehensive documentation, risk assessment, and corrective action closure.
  • Review, evaluate, and approve engineering modifications backed by testing, analysis, and documentation.
  • Develop and communicate specifications to vendors using 3D CAD, 2D drawings, GD&T, and engineering standards while applying DRM, DFM, DFX, and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Support manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing processes, troubleshooting prototype and production challenges.
  • Create and approve engineering drawings, BOMs, manufacturing release documentation, and change records.
  • Lead external vendor collaboration for scaling electro-mechanical components and thermal systems into production-ready solutions.
  • Drive improvements in part quality, cost, reliability, and operational efficiency throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design and production issues.
  • Communicate technical decisions, design trade-offs, project plans, and risks to leadership and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to independently drive large-scale engineering programs, mentor junior engineers, and interact with customers.
  • Strong experience with high-volume manufacturing processes including stamping, casting, machining, welding (composites a plus).
  • Expertise in designing structural components, mechanisms, tools, jigs, and fixtures while optimizing for cost, durability, thermal performance, and weight.
  • Hands-on experience in prototyping, testing, validation, and failure analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of solid mechanics, load cases, and failure mechanisms.
  • Proficiency with GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Experience developing mass-production components along with engineering documentation (BOMs, SOPs, release notes, ECOs).
  • Familiarity with Design Thinking, FMEA, and design validation testing.
  • Ability to define FEA requirements and interpret results for engineering decisions.
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing, testing, quality, and supplier teams to deliver production-ready components.

Good to Have

  • Experience in automotive domains such as interiors, chassis, suspension, powertrain, or steering systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and safety standards for industrial machinery and automation.
  • Formal training or certifications in Design Thinking.
  • Contributions to patents, publications, or innovation.
  • Strong awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Eligibility

  • B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Mechanical, Automotive, or Aerospace Engineering from Tier-1 or Tier-2 institutions.
  • 5–8 years of relevant product development experience across full lifecycle.
  • Minimum 2 years of technical leadership experience.
