Job Description - Senior New Product Manufacturing Engineer (NPME III)
## Key Responsibilities\n\n * Demonstrates in\u2011depth knowledge of the NPME role. Independently develops, assesses, implements, and releases new and sustaining product BOMs for complex modules and product structures, with strong focus on manufacturing, supply chain, quality, compliance, and lifecycle risk. Works with key stakeholders to develop and implement new product manufacturing, test, and sourcing strategies, ensuring readiness for RPE handoff and volume ramp.\n * Performs structured BOM risk assessments to identify and mitigate risks related to obsolescence, single\u2011source exposure, manufacturability, documentation completeness, and supplier readiness early in the NPI and product lifecycle.\n * Manages the development, validation, and release of Operation Method Sheets (OMS) and build documentation for complex modules, ensuring alignment with build intent, site capability, and ramp requirements.\n * Performs 3D solid model virtual analysis, including Master Layout (MLO) and Digital Mock\u2011Up (DMU). Actively participates in design and BOM reviews, providing DFA, DFAe, DFTp, ITO, and operational efficiency feedback to drive cost, quality, yield, and cycle time goals, and to prevent late\u2011stage ramp issues.\n * Leverages data\u2011driven and AI\u2011assisted analysis tools, where applicable, to identify recurring BOM risk patterns, historical failure trends, and high\u2011impact risk areas, translating insights into actionable engineering decisions.\n * Orchestrates change requests and executes change control processes, including Non\u2011Standard Requests (NSRs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), Change Control Board (CCB), Supplier Problem Sheets (SPSs), and Engineering Specification Waivers (ESWs), ensuring disciplined risk closure and release integrity.\n * Documents product\u2011related issues and enhancement opportunities and performs Root Cause Corrective Analysis (RCCA). Leads disposition and resolution of issues requiring Long\u2011Term Corrective Action (LTCA), ensuring traceability and audit readiness.\n * Leads or supports managed build processes for programs and projects, validating BOM, documentation, and part readiness to support smooth execution and ramp stability.\n * Provides technical support, guidance, and training to Applied Materials and contract manufacturing partners, including piece\u2011part suppliers, related to new product introductions and BOM risk mitigation.\n * Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn and adopt emerging digital, analytics, and AI\u2011enabled tools to continuously improve BOM quality, risk detection, and engineering effectiveness.\n * May perform other duties as assigned.\n\n\n\n## Other Requirements\n\nThis position may require standing for extended periods of time, walking, working in tight spaces, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling, reaching, lifting, the ability to distinguish between colors, the ability to work in an environment with noise that may be difficult for some individuals with sensitivity to noise, and the use of hand and power tools.\n\nAdditionally, because this position also may involve working in a clean room, the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as coveralls, hoods, booties, safety glasses, gloves, respirators, chemical aprons, and face shields may be required.\n\n## Functional Knowledge\n\nDemonstrates strong conceptual and practical expertise in manufacturing engineering with deep understanding of BOM structure, risk assessment, and product release processes, and basic knowledge of related disciplines including design engineering, supply chain, quality, and manufacturing operations.\n\n## Business Expertise\n\nHas knowledge of best practices in NPI, RPE, and manufacturing engineering and understands how BOM and product structure decisions integrate across functions. Demonstrates awareness of competitive, cost, and supply\u2011chain factors that differentiate products in the market and impact ramp success.\n\n## Leadership\n\nActs as a technical resource for colleagues with less experience and may lead small to medium projects with manageable risks and resource requirements. Supports adoption of data\u2011driven and AI\u2011assisted engineering practices through mentoring and example.\n\n## Problem Solving\n\nSolves complex, cross\u2011functional problems related to BOM, manufacturing, and product risk. Takes new perspectives on existing solutions and exercises sound engineering judgment based on analysis of multiple data sources.\n\n## Impact\n\nImpacts a range of customer, operational, project, and service activities within own team and across related teams.
