This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior NodeJS Engineer based in India.
The Senior NodeJS Engineer will play a key role in shaping and scaling a rapidly evolving platform designed to support high-growth, global-level services. You will join a newly formed engineering team focused on decoupling a monolithic architecture and building scalable, cloud-native systems capable of handling significant traffic and complexity. This role combines hands-on backend development with architectural decision-making, giving you ownership over both design and implementation. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and a large engineering organization to ensure seamless integration and system reliability. A strong emphasis is placed on performance, scalability, and engineering excellence in a fast-moving Agile environment. This is a high-impact role where your work will directly influence the stability and future growth of the platform.
Accountabilities:
- Contribute to the design and implementation of scalable backend systems using NodeJS, ensuring high performance, reliability, and maintainability across distributed services.
- Participate in key architectural decisions as part of a team responsible for decoupling and modernizing a large-scale platform.
- Build and optimize APIs, services, and backend components capable of handling increasing traffic and system complexity.
- Collaborate with 40+ engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure smooth integration of new and existing services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance bottlenecks, scaling challenges, and system reliability issues across the platform.
- Write clean, testable, and efficient code following best practices in software engineering and cloud-native development.
- Improve infrastructure and deployment processes using modern DevOps practices, enhancing automation and system resilience.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Senior NodeJS Engineer building scalable, production-grade backend systems in high-growth environments.
- Strong expertise in NodeJS, Express, and backend architecture design for distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and containerization tools including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Solid understanding of event-driven architectures and messaging systems such as RabbitMQ, SNS, or Kafka.
- Experience working with databases such as MongoDB and caching systems like Redis.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex performance and scaling issues.
- Experience working in Agile teams with strong collaboration and communication skills; English and Portuguese proficiency is a plus.
- Bonus: experience with microservices, distributed systems, and large-scale system design.
