Job Description - Senior Program Officer Communications

The organisation is looking for a Senior Communications Officer to support programs in India. As a part of the cross-cutting Communications team, the selected person will play a crucial role in developing and implementing communication strategies to enhance the organization's visibility, promote its initiatives, and engage stakeholders. You will work closely with the local and global teams to ensure consistent and impactful communication that aligns with the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting Strategic Communication Leadership:

Preparation and delivery of the annual communications and outreach calendar and communications protocols for programs in India, in consultation with the Director Programs.

Develop and execute comprehensive communication plans and strategies aligned with the objectives of the Regenerative Agriculture and Landscape Program RPLC (Regenerative Production Landscape Collaborative). 

Collaborate with program teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.

Content Development and Management:

Create compelling and engaging content for various platforms, including press releases, articles, blog posts, and social media updates.

Develop multimedia content such as short videos, infographics, and presentations to effectively communicate the organization's impact and initiatives.

Draft, design, and produce high-quality, program-specific communication products, including newsletters, PowerPoint presentations, LinkedIn posts, brochures, case studies, narratives, and donor reports.

Digital and Social Media Management:

Develop and manage social media accounts in India to ensure consistent and impactful messaging, along with the LinkedIn account of RPLC.

Manage content, design, and dissemination of newsletters for programs in India.

Manage the program's digital presence, ensuring timely and relevant content updates on social media platforms, the organizations website, and digital platforms (domestic and global).

Conceptualize, design, and implement social media campaigns.

Event Coordination:

Support and coordinate events, workshops, and seminars to showcase the organizations work and engage with key stakeholders.

Draft, design, and produce high-quality pre- and post-event communication materials.

Multistakeholder Program Communications:

Facilitate communication between different stakeholders, including government agencies, businesses, NGOs, and local communities, to foster understanding and cooperation.

Tailor content to effectively engage and inform private sector companies, brands, donors, and government stakeholders.

Collaborate with project teams to identify and highlight key milestones, challenges, and the impact of multistakeholder initiatives.

  • Digital Intelligence, Analytics, and Engagement:

  • Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns, providing regular reports and actionable recommendations for improvement.

  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continuously improve communication efforts

  • Vendor Management:

  • Manage empanelment and oversee pre- and post-assignment deliverables with external vendors.

  • Handle budget negotiations, contracting, timelines, quality standards, and post-delivery assessments.

  • What You Bring

  • Experience in developing and managing communications budgets.

  • Willingness to travel to field locations, up to once a month for 23 day visits.

  • Highly proactive, detail-oriented, and entrepreneurial in approach.

  • Based in Gurgaon, India.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multicultural and geographically dispersed teams.

  • Experience with design tools like Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, etc.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including social media management and content management systems.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi.
    Ability to create and manage diverse communication products tailored to various stakeholders including private sector actors, donors, and government agencies.
  • Background in communications/public relations within sectors such as forestry, agriculture, land-use, natural resource management, or supply chains, preferably in non-profit or development organizations.
  • Proven hands-on experience in digital communications, including managing social media platforms and online newsletters.
  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum 6 years of professional experience in developing and executing communication strategies, producing content, managing brand relations, coordinating events, and supporting donor and corporate communications.
