Senior Software Engineer

• Design, build and evolve customer-facing digital products and the services behind them using C# and .NET.
  
• Develop APIs and integrations that connect our customer experiences with the wider Blue Water digital ecosystem.
  
• Work closely with Product Owners, engineers, architects and business colleagues to understand customer needs and turn them into simple, scalable solutions.
  
• Look beyond the immediate requirement and consider the end-to-end customer journey challenging unnecessary complexity and helping us create coherent experiences across products.
  
• Know when a problem cannot be solved in code alone and involve the right people, understand how the business and customer journey work, and avoid making assumptions about either.
  
• Use AI as part of everyday engineering from coding, testing and documentation to exploring agentic development approaches while also identifying opportunities to embed AI into our customer-facing products where it creates real value.
  
• Contribute to technical decisions and help the team balance scalability, maintainability, speed, security and business needs.
  
• Strengthen engineering practices through code reviews, testing, automation, observability, knowledge sharing and constructive technical discussions.
  
• Help modernise and simplify existing solutions while making pragmatic decisions about what should be improved, reused, replaced or left alone.
  
• Share your experience with other engineers and be someone colleagues can spar with when solving complex problems or evaluating different approaches.
  
• Collaborate with Enterprise Engineering on shared engineering capabilities, platforms, standards and developer experience.
  

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with C# and .NET and building production-grade software.
  
• Strong experience designing and developing APIs and integrations.
  
• Experience with databases and cloud-native development, preferably Microsoft Azure.
  
• Practical experience applying AI in software development or digital products. This could include LLM APIs, AI-assisted development, agents, RAG, automation or similar technologies.
  
• A strong understanding of modern engineering practices, including automated testing, CI/CD, observability and secure software development.
  
• Experience contributing to important technical decisions and seeing those decisions through into production.
  
• The ability to balance engineering principles with customer needs, business value and operational reality – and recognise when the right solution requires more than technology.
  
• Confidence to bring your own perspective, challenge ideas constructively and have your own thinking challenged in return.
  
• A collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in sharing knowledge and helping the people around you succeed.
  
• Good English communication skills, written and spoken.
