Senior Software Engineer - Java

Primary Job Responsibilities:

You've worked with many programming languages, but you love working with [the good parts of] J2EE the most. You have a strong understanding of the Object Oriented Programming and core features of the language, you have a good understanding and exposure to DI, AOP, MVC concepts and frameworks and you enjoy writing code that is expressive and elegant. You often come up with innovative solutions to problems but will always use the best tool and design pattern for the job. You enjoy working in a decentralized, team-based environment, and you're great at getting things done both autonomously and by pair-programming with a teammate.

You will be part of the VCA Engineering team , and our product uses Spring MVC at its core with Hibernate and RESTful APIs.

Job Requirements:

• Passion for developing excellent software and an appreciation for elegant code,


• Very strong Java development background with emphasis on performance, scalability, reliability, extensibility, maintainability and succinctness,


• Good understanding of Application servers such as JBoss, Tomcat, Weblogic or Websphere environments and experience working with one of the IDEs such as Eclipse, Netbeans, IntelliJ IDEA etc.


• Experience with Spring MVC , Hibernate is a must.


• Sound understanding of Spring MVC framework and annotations


• Experience in one of the enterprise DB like Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL along with ANSI/Native SQL knowledge is a must


• Experience with JSON and RESTful APIs.


• Expertise in sed, awk and Unix shell scripting. Handful of experience working with Unix/Linux systems


• Experience in developing responsive mobile browser-based applications a plus


• Open source project contributions a plus


• Experience with version control such as GIT, SVN, CVS etc , and Build tools like ANT / MAVEN.


• Experience in setting up application development or test environments, configuring build, deployment tools and version control repositories etc.


• Experience in any BPM tools with working knowledge of BPMN2.0 would be a big plus


• Onsite Production deployment experience will be a plus


• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Drives PM and BU to think beyond their area about the end-to-end solution.

• Should be able to come up with solutions based on RFC references on newer technologies.
