This role is ideal for a fully hands\u2011on technical leader who can lead a small team to deliver best-in-class user experieince and who is passionate about delivering measurable performance and power improvements on production systems using upstream Linux.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDrive performance optimization for Arm\u2011based Embedded \u0026 Edge devices, and lead and mentor a small team to deliver best\u2011in\u2011class system performance\n\nBoot optimizations to meet product demands across Robotics, Action Cameras, and other embedded and edge devices, including boot\u2011time reduction, robustness, and debug.\n\nProduct\u2011specific use\u2011case optimizations driven by real workloads, profiling, and end\u2011to\u2011end system analysis.\n\nMemory optimizations and performance tuning, including memory allocation behavior, pressure, fragmentation, and latency analysis.\n\nOwnership and delivery of overall product power and performance KPIs, including measurement, tuning, and regression prevention.\n\nMentor junior engineers and contribute to technical reviews, design documentation, and architectural discussions, while remaining primarily hands\u2011on.\n\nRepresent the company in upstream Linux and open\u2011source communities through technical contributions, discussions, and patch reviews.\n\nEnhancing and supporting userspace resource\u2011manager frameworks to enable effective power/performance trade\u2011offs.\n\nRequired Qualifications:\n\n13+ years of experience in Linux software development, with a strong focus on Arm architecture.\n\nDeep understanding of Linux kernel and operating\u2011system fundamentals, especially scheduling, memory management, and power management.\n\nProven experience upstreaming patches and working with the Linux software community.\n\nExperience with sched\u2011ext based schedulers.\n\nStrong debugging skills using tools such as ftrace, perf, kgdb, crash, kernel logs, and related tracing tools.\n\nStrong analytical skills to identify and resolve system\u2011level performance and power issues.\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nExperience with virtualization (KVM) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).\n\nContributions to, or maintainership of, Linux power, performance, or thermal software.\n\nKnowledge of firmware interfaces (UEFI, ACPI, Device Tree) and bootloaders (U\u2011Boot).\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\nBachelor\u2019s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.\n\nOR\n\nMaster\u2019s degree in Engineering in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.\n\nOR\n\nPhD in Engineering in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.\n\n4+ years of work experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Rust, Python, etc.\n\n6+ years of work experience in linux system performance analysis\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Bachelor\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nMaster\u0027s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \nOR \nPhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience. \n \n\u2022 3+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.\n\nApplicants: Qualcomm is an equal opportunity employer.
