As a Senior Staff Software Engineer for the Agent Platform, you will be the technical visionary responsible for evolving our core Endpoint services into a world-class, high-scale platform. You will architect and lead the development of backend services that manage, update, and monitor tens of millions of agents globally, ensuring the foundation of SentinelOne’s security remains resilient and scalable. Your leadership will bridge the gap between long-term technical strategy and high-velocity execution, influencing the architecture of our entire SaaS ecosystem.

What Will You Do? 

Primary responsibilities include:

• Architectural Vision: Define and drive the long-term technical roadmap for the Agent Platform, transitioning legacy services into a modern, Java-based microservices architecture while maintaining high-performance Go-based systems.


• System Design at Scale: Lead the design and implementation of highly available, cloud-native services (gateways, caching, fleet management) that process billions of events daily and support the world’s largest enterprises.


• Technical Leadership & Influence: Act as a key stakeholder in cross-organizational architectural reviews, ensuring the Agent Platform provides the necessary extensibility and reliability for other product teams to build upon.


• Operational Excellence: Drive engineering best practices across the group, including advanced performance optimization, deep health reporting, and automated lifecycle management of the agent fleet.


• Mentorship & Growth: Elevate the engineering bar by mentoring Staff and Senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.

What Skills and Knowledge Will You Bring? 

Ideal candidates will have:

• Extensive Backend Expertise: 12+ years of professional experience in backend development, with deep production-level mastery of both Golang and Java (transitioning to Java for new services).


• Platform Thinking: Proven track record of building and scaling platforms (not just features), with a focus on API design (gRPC, REST), multi-tenancy, and shared infrastructure services.


• Data & Distributed Systems: Expert-level knowledge of RDBMS (PostgreSQL), query optimization, and experience with high-throughput messaging systems like Kafka and distributed caches (Redis).


• Cloud-Native Proficiency: Deep experience with AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, and modern CI/CD patterns (ArgoCD, GitHub Actions) in a hyper-scale SaaS environment.


• Strategic Communication: Ability to articulate complex technical trade-offs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including Product Management, Directors, and VPs.


• Cybersecurity Context: (Bonus) Familiarity with security event processing or endpoint management in a high-growth cybersecurity context.
