Senior Tax Analyst

Yext is expanding its International Operation Center and is looking for a talented and dynamic Tax Analyst to be part of the tax function based in India. Reporting and working directly with the tax team located in the US, the candidate is critical in defining and managing the processes for local tax filings and requirements, and will assist the US team on direct and indirect tax related tasks. The Tax Analyst will need to interact directly with other finance members across the organization as well as with external tax advisors.  The ideal candidate is someone who’s self-motivated, a quick learner with excellent organizational and communication skills, and demonstrates strong initiative, ownership and passion. This role is fully on-site in our Hyderabad, India office.

What you'll do

• Work with external service providers and internal tax team members to accurately and timely file all local Indian direct and indirect tax returns; maintain and monitor local tax filing calendar


• Assist in monthly tax account reconciliations, calculations, journal entries and tax return preparations


• Develop knowledge of both Direct and Indirect Tax laws and apply to the business and keep up-to-date with changes


• Develop in-depth knowledge of tools and applications supporting Tax processes


• Assist the US tax team with inputs / preparations of the quarterly and annual US GAAP ASC740 Income Tax Provision calculations for the Yext India entity


• At times assist with tax audits including gathering information, and assembling responses to auditor inquiries


• Proactively identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions to automate existing workpapers and streamline processes


• Assist in SOX process implementation for Yext India entity

What you have 

• Minimum 4 years of relevant working experience in handling local Indian direct/indirect tax calculations, filings, and requirements


• Solid understanding of accounting in the general ledger and financial statements, US GAAP accounting knowledge a plus


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills


• Excellent computer skills and advanced Excel skills (Pivots, SUMIFS, INDEXMATCH, etc.)


• Self-starter who is able to be self-reliant and motivated to take on tasks and demonstrate the ability to work with service providers to drive tasks and projects to completion


• Sense of responsibility, initiative and high-quality work standards


• Strong willingness to work flexible hours with global business from time to time


• Must be able to multitask, work efficiently under tight deadlines and proactively track and report progress


• Self-motivated to apply learned experiences and leverage best practices

Bonus points 

• Prior experience / knowledge with US Sales Tax/European VAT or other global indirect taxes a plus, keen interest in international taxes including emerging taxes, e.g., Digital Services Taxes


• Experience with Netsuite ERP system/Zuora billing system/Avalara sales tax software a plus


• Chartered Accountant / MBA with Bachelor’s degree in Accounting


• Prior working experience at Big 4 Public Accounting Firms or in house tax function of a US multinational companies
