Senior Tekla Checker

We are Sisco Jobs, a recruitment consultancy based in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. We are hiring on behalf of our client for the position of Senior Tekla Checker in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Our client is seeking an experienced professional capable of taking ownership of final quality assurance for structural steel models and drawings. The successful candidate will act as the final quality gate before client submission, ensuring accurate, compliant, and zero-defect deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently perform complete checking cycles for structural steel models and drawings.
  
• Verify Tekla models and drawings against structural and architectural design documentation.
  
• Identify modelling, detailing, dimensional, connection, and drawing discrepancies before submission.
  
• Ensure deliverables comply with applicable project drawings, specifications, and detailing requirements.
  
• Investigate root causes of recurring errors and implement measures to prevent reoccurrence.
  
• Mentor junior checkers and delivery teams to improve overall detailing and checking quality.
  
• Support project scheduling, delivery planning, and early identification of technical and quality risks.
  
• Provide final quality sign-off before models and drawings are released for client submission.
  

Required Skills

1. Tekla Structures: Strong practical understanding of Tekla models and fabrication/detail drawings.
   
2. Structural Steel Checking: Ability to conduct comprehensive model and drawing checking cycles independently.
   
3. Australian Steel Detailing: Minimum 3 years of experience working on Australian steel detailing projects.
   
4. Technical Judgment: Ability to identify inconsistencies between structural, architectural, model, and drawing information.
   
5. Quality Assurance: Strong attention to detail and ownership of final deliverable quality.
   

Preferred Skills

• Root-cause analysis and error-prevention capability.
  
• Experience mentoring junior detailers/checkers.
  
• Project delivery planning and technical risk identification.
  

Work Experience Requirements

Candidates must have 6–10+ years of model and drawing checking experience, including a minimum of 3 years working on Australian steel detailing projects. The role requires sufficient technical depth to independently perform final checking and take accountability for submission quality.

Education

• Minimum: Typical qualification — Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil or Structural Engineering
  
• Preferred: Typical — relevant structural engineering qualification
  
• Additional: Tekla Structures training/certification would be advantageous
