Senior Underwriter (Life & Health) - India

As a Senior Underwriter, Life & Health, you will be responsible for underwriting and claims, client servicing, support of marketing research, claims & audit, training for SCOR SE India Branch.

• Contributing to all aspects of risk management (underwriting and claim) work within SCOR to ensure that the India team meets its goal.
• Supporting to manage the day-to-day case volumes and establish SCOR’s brand with clients on the underwriting and claims servicing including training and client audits

Key duties and responsibilities

Main Scope

• To implement SCOR’s underwriting policy and principles and ensure that risks are assumed on a sound and profitable basis.

• Ensure that the underwriting and claims conforms with SCOR Global Life underwriting and claims guidelines 

• Underwriting proposals within defined authority and TAT

• Processing of claims within defined authority and TAT

• Referring cases beyond authority to Head of Underwriting & Claims

• Conduct audits of the underwriting and claims practices of the direct companies.

• Analyze and determine the client’s training requirements in underwriting and claims, and provide customized training accordingly.

• Participate in new product development and formulate underwriting and claims guidelines aligned with SCOR’s underwriting and claims philosophy.

• Involvement in treaty preparation and assessment of underwriting and claims MIS

• To track regulatory development in the India market, study it’s impact and ensure that SCOR India is compliant

• Stay informed of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks, sharing insights and potential business impacts with the broader team

Relationship

• Work closely with business development team to enhance client relationships and new business opportunities

• Work closely with the claims and the underwriting department of the client companies and brokers.

• Maintain interaction with other departments across SCOR (e.g. business development in Singapore and India) in order to contribute to multi-function projects

Required experience & competencies

• Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience in insurance/reinsurance fields, in the areas of medical underwriting and claims.
• Experience in Health &/or Life Insurance (Underwriting & Claims)
• Degree in Science, Pharmaceutical science, MBBS, BAMS or BHMS 
• ACII, LOMA, CLU and other relevant professional qualifications required
• Good Understanding of the India Market from risk and client perspective; Pleasant personality, self-motivated and good contacts in the market
• Ability to present on local & regional level
• Strong presentation, verbal and written communication and organization skills.
