Shopify Commerce Lead

What you will do

• Lead the architecture, design, and estimation efforts for headless commerce solutions, working closely with clients to plan and implement tailored solutions.

• Focus on non-functional requirements (NFRs) such as security, performance, availability, resiliency, reliability, and maintainability, ensuring the right trade-offs are made to meet business objectives.

• Collaborate with Senior Managers, Product Managers, and Platform Engineers to define the architecture, engineering practices & guidelines.

• Work directly with customers to design solution architectures for enterprise-level e-commerce and marketplace solutions using Shopify Plus.

• Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications, providing actionable recommendations and strategies for implementation.

• Take an active role in the implementation process, applying technical expertise to guide the development and execution of the solution.

• Manage stakeholders to drive key decisions on tools, technologies, user journeys, and overall governance.

• Collaborate with sales and clients to conceptualize innovative technology solutions for mission-critical business requirements, providing clear cost and timeline estimates.

• Contribute to business development by preparing technical proposals, including scope, cost, duration, and resource needs.

• Work closely with architects and engineering teams to define and align the overall IT strategy for headless commerce solutions.

• Drive continuous improvement by adopting and promoting industry standards and methodologies like Agile and Kanban, ensuring the team remains adaptable and responsive to evolving business needs.

• Foster skill diversification within the team, encouraging learning across various technologies, platforms, and business models to support growth and innovation.

What you will bring

• 8–12 years of experience in e-commerce development, with a minimum of 5 years specializing in Shopify/Shopify Plus.

• Expertise in Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, GraphQL, and RESTful APIs.

• In-depth knowledge of Shopify Admin API and Shopify Storefront API.

• Strong understanding of e-commerce best practices, SEO, and performance optimization techniques.

• Hands-on experience with third-party apps and APIs, including payment gateways, analytics tools, and marketing platforms.

• Proven experience integrating Shopify Plus with ERPs, CRMs, and other enterprise systems.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and consistently deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on providing solution-oriented approaches to technical challenges.

• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and version control systems.

• Knowledge of global e-commerce markets and omnichannel retail solutions.

• Shopify Plus certifications or equivalent credentials are advantageous.

• Experience with Build and Automation tools, Code Quality Plugins, CI/CD Pipelines, and Containerization platforms (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes).

• Ability to manage and collaborate with multiple teams in a matrix organization.

• Experience with headless and hydrogen shopify architectures

• Expertise in e-commerce, marketplaces, cloud solutions, Continuous Integration, DevOps, middleware, mobile, and content management systems.

• Experience with other enterprise eCommerce platforms like SFCC and Adobe Commerce is a plus.

• Strong client-facing skills and excellent communication and influencing abilities.
