Job Description:
The Social Investment Advisor will oversee and manage Shell India’s Social Investment Social Investment portfolio and projects. This role involves ensuring the effective delivery of Shell SI Strategy in priority geographical locations and fence line interventions along with managing partnerships with NGOs, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
The role will oversee the allocation and management of CSR funds to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and policies and will play a key role in driving positive social impact through skilling and other initiatives.
The person will be responsible for programmatic excellence, foster impactful partnerships, and safeguard CSR compliance—ultimately amplifying Shell’s reputation as a responsible corporate citizen in India.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing skilling programs, CSR projects, and partnerships, as well as a strong background in project management and communication.
Expected Role:
Lead and manage Shell India’s overall Social Investment (SI) and CSR portfolio, ensuring the design and delivery of high‑impact community development programs across priority geographies and fence-line communities of Shell businesses.
Ensure full compliance with CSR regulations, internal governance, and Shell policies, while driving sustainable, scalable, and high‑quality CSR interventions aligned with Shell’s business objectives and social performance priorities.
Develop and oversee strategic plans, including annual work plans, project pipelines, and monitoring frameworks, with a strong focus on evidence generation through rigorous impact evaluations and data-driven decision-making.
Represent and showcase CSR initiatives on internal and external platforms and build strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including government entities, corporate partners, multilateral agencies, CSOs, and Shell senior leadership.
Continuously scan and map the broader CSR and social investment ecosystem, identifying emerging policies, innovation models, sectoral trends, and opportunities to strengthen and diversify Shell’s social investment strategy.
Work closely with the Communications team and Corporate Relations colleagues to ensure timely, accurate, and strategic dissemination of project insights, success stories, and CSR performance updates.
Coordinate with Finance, Legal, E&C and CP team focal for effective contract and partner management, ensuring due diligence, risk assessment, and adherence to all relevant standards and regulatory requirements.
Develop and manage communication products for the entire SI/CSR portfolio, including reports, presentations, knowledge briefs, and other external-facing materials.
Collaborate across Corporate Relations and other Shell businesses to ensure SI/CSR initiatives support wider business goals and Social Performance commitments.
Provide SI/CSR-related guidance to internal teams across Shell entities in India, supporting integration of CSR principles and strengthening overall delivery capability.
Oversee financial governance for all CSR programs, including budget planning, monitoring of expenditures, monthly KPI reporting, and internal/external reporting on CSR outcomes.
Coordinate key events and engagements such as workshops, reviews, conferences, and partner meetings supporting high-quality execution in both online and offline formats.
Experience and Skills required
The candidate must have demonstrated experience in development sector. This can include education and skilling programs for other multilateral CSOs and other large institutions.
Master’s degree in social sciences, business administration, or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in managing social investment or CSR programs, preferably in the education, skilling, livelihood or agriculture sector.
Strong experience of project management, with good understanding of all project management aspects e.g. tracking schedule, cost utilization, communication, progress update, quality, risk management etc.
Prior experience of working with government, multilateral agencies, corporates, UN, recognized CSOs will be particularly valuable.
Experience in managing CSR programs, aligned to regulatory (CSR Act) requirements and reporting.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
Strong understanding of Shell’s values and a learner mindset.
A strong team player who can work collaboratively with peers and manage and deliver excellent performance from teams and individuals.
