Software Development Engineer 4 - C++

Summary of the Role

In this role, you will design and build high‑performance C++ services for cloud‑native, distributed applications running on Linux. You will own components end‑to‑end—from design and implementation to deployment and operations—with a strong focus on reliability, security, observability, and performance. You will collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams and contribute to platform‑level technical excellence.

In This Role You’ll / Your Main Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize C++17/20 services, microservices, libraries, and system daemons for Linux and Kubernetes environments.

• Apply distributed‑systems concepts (e.g., consensus, replication, sharding, eventual consistency) and implement secure, fault‑tolerant, and scalable communication using gRPC/REST and messaging systems.

• Profile, debug, and tune performance using tools such as perf, Valgrind, and flame graphs; build CI/CD‑ready, testable, thread‑safe, memory‑efficient code.

• Implement observability (metrics, logs, traces) using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry; collaborate with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) / DevOps teams on deployments, capacity planning, and incident response.

• Create design documents, RFCs, and clear technical documentation; mentor peers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.

About the Ideal Candidate

• 5–10 years of hands‑on modern C++ development on Linux, with strong understanding of OS internals, networking, concurrency, and asynchronous programming.

• Experience building distributed systems, event‑driven architectures, microservices, and cloud‑native workloads using Docker and Kubernetes.

• Solid database knowledge: schema design, performance tuning, high availability/disaster recovery (HA/DR), and experience with relational (PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL stores (Redis/Cassandra).

• Familiarity with secure coding, secrets management, authentication/authorization, TLS/mTLS, and compliance considerations (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).

• Skilled with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, observability tooling, and able to communicate clearly, solve complex problems, and take ownership of outcomes.
