You will act as a trusted financial advisor, helping customers optimize their accounting workflows and improve financial accuracy.
The position focuses on onboarding, reconciliation, historical data cleanup, and building scalable accounting processes.
You will work closely with customers using platforms such as Shopify, Amazon, and accounting systems like QuickBooks and Xero.

Accountabilities:
The Sr. Ecommerce Accounting Expert will serve as a financial technology advisor for e-commerce customers, helping them establish accurate accounting processes and successfully manage their financial operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Design financial technology setups for new customers by mapping sales channels such as Shopify, Amazon, and Walmart to appropriate general ledger accounts.
- Configure clearing accounts and holding accounts to manage timing differences between sales activity, settlements, and payouts.
- Perform historical accounting cleanup by identifying duplicate transactions, missing fees, incorrect entries, and unrecorded costs of goods sold.
- Reconcile Amazon Seller Central settlement reports, bank transactions, and payment records to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Guide customers through their initial month-end closing processes and help establish reliable accounting routines.
- Troubleshoot discrepancies between payment processors, e-commerce platforms, and accounting systems.
- Advise customers on sales tax configurations and accounting treatment for tax liabilities.
- Create standard operating procedures and documentation to support customers’ internal accounting teams.
- Explain accounting workflows and best practices to help customers maximize the value of financial automation tools.
- Act as a trusted consultant by identifying improvements to customer processes and financial operations.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate is an experienced accounting professional with strong e-commerce knowledge and the ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to customers. Required qualifications and skills include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in client accounting services, a CPA environment, or within an e-commerce business.
- Strong expertise with QuickBooks Online and Desktop.
- Experience working with e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Amazon Seller Central, eBay, or similar marketplaces.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce accounting concepts, including gross vs. net sales, merchant fees, chargebacks, returns, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Knowledge of cash and accrual inventory accounting principles.
- Understanding of gross-to-net accounting logic, including settlement adjustments, payment processor fees, and reconciliation processes.
- Experience managing financial data cleanup, account reconciliation, and month-end close activities.
- Strong consultative mindset with the ability to explain accounting concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Excellent customer service skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to handle challenging conversations professionally.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Reliable internet connection and ability to work effectively in a fully remote setup.
Preferred qualifications include:
- CPA certification or EA (Enrolled Agent) candidacy.
- Experience working with international customers and multi-currency accounting, including foreign exchange gains and losses.
