Job Description - Sr Engineer MV Switchgear

## What you\u2019ll do:\n\n\u2022Lead and execute mechanical design and development activities for Medium Voltage distribution products, including Switchgear, Transformers, Voltage Regulators, Capacitors, Network Protectors, and related electrical components. \n\u2022Execute projects through all stages of the product development lifecycle, including concept development, detailed design, validation, industrialization, and sustaining support. \n\u2022Apply DfX methodologies (DFMEA, DFMA, DFR, tolerance stack\u2011up, reliability) to ensure robust, manufacturable, and serviceable product designs. \n\u2022Independently complete 2D drawings and 3D models using Inventor / Pro\u2011E (Creo) / AutoCAD. \n\u2022Support and witness type and validation testing, including Temperature Rise, Fault Current, High Voltage, Mechanical Endurance, Impact, and Vibration testing, as per applicable standards. \n\u2022Analyze test results and provide engineering judgment on design, material, or component changes and their impact on product performance, reliability, and compliance. \n\u2022Develop and support test plans in accordance with IEC / IEEE standards (e.g., IEC 62271 series). \n\u2022Utilize strong knowledge of metals and plastics to propose alternative materials and manufacturing processes. \n\u2022Provide engineering judgment on the impact of material or process changes from cost, testing, certification, and product performance perspectives. \n\u2022Drive and support VAVE initiatives focused on cost reduction, localization, design simplification, and alternate manufacturing processes. \n\u2022Lead or support production feasibility assessments, PPAP, and manufacturing readiness activities. \n\u2022Modify existing products through the formal Change Management process to meet customer, manufacturing, regulatory, and market requirements. \n\u2022Support resolution of field, quality, and manufacturing issues using structured problem\u2011solving methodologies (DMAIC, Root Cause Analysis). \n\u2022Ensure sustained product compliance and performance across the product lifecycle. \n\u2022Plan, coordinate, and execute complex engineering projects, ensuring on\u2011time delivery, quality, and cost objectives. \n\u2022Collaborate with global, cross\u2011functional teams, including Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Testing Labs, and external suppliers. \n\u2022Operate effectively in a virtual, global engineering environment and provide regular technical updates to stakeholders. \n\u2022Develop direct reports by providing challenging assignments, technical coaching, and structured development plans. \n\u2022Contribute to building a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement within the engineering organization.\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nEducation level required : Bachelor\u2019s/Master\u2019s degree in engineering in Mechanical \nYears and area of experience required : 6\u20139 years of relevant engineering experience in NPI/NTI, VAVE, and Sustaining Engineering. \n\u2022Strong experience with Medium Voltage distribution products, preferably MV Switchgear. \n\u2022Hands\u2011on experience with Inventor and AutoCAD (Pro\u2011E / Creo preferred). \n\u2022Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects across the product development lifecycle. \n\u2022Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (DMAIC) certification. \n\u2022Strong analytical, problem\u2011solving, and technical decision\u2011making skills. \n\u2022Experience working with IEC / IEEE standards for MV products. \n\u2022Experience proposing alternate manufacturing processes for cost reduction. \n\u2022Strong understanding of electro\u2011mechanical systems, tolerance stack\u2011ups, and structural design. \n\u2022Proven ability to work effectively in global, cross\u2011functional teams. \n\u2022Demonstrated capability to generate innovative concepts and system/sub\u2011system improvements.\n\n \nTechnical knowledge : \n\u2022 Sound technical knowledge in electromechanical products like Medium Voltage Regulator, Switchgear, Circuit breakers, protection equipment etc. \n\u2022 Strong mechanical technical knowledge on materials, Structural, Thermal calculations and physical testing \n\u2022 Understanding of relevant industry standards and how they apply to the product \n\u2022 Monitor progress and achievements on projects. Provide timely status and reports to stakeholders. \n\n
