Job Overview:
As a Supplier Quality Engineer specializing in the mechanical domain, this role will play a crucial
role in ensuring the quality and reliability of mechanical components and systems sourced from external
suppliers. This role’s primary responsibility will be to assess, monitor, and enhance the quality performance of
suppliers, ensuring that their products meet the required standards and specifications. The SQE will collaborate
with cross -functional teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders including Sourcing, SCM & Engineering teams
to drive continuous improvement in the supply chain, fostering a culture of quality excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supplier Assessment and Approval:

Conduct thorough evaluations of potential suppliers to ensure they meet the company's
quality standards and requirements for mechanical components.
ï·
Collaborate with Sourcing and engineering teams to establish criteria for supplier selection
and approval.

2. Planning:
ï·
Develop and implement quality plans for mechanical components, outlining inspection
criteria, testing procedures, and quality control measures.
ï·
Collaborate with suppliers to establish mutually agreed -upon quality standards and
performance metrics.
3. Supplier Audits and Assessments:
ï·
Conduct regular on -site and remote audits of supplier facilities to assess their quality
management systems and production processes.
ï·
Identify areas of improvement and work with suppliers to implement corrective and
preventive actions.
4. Quality Control and Inspection:
ï·
Establish inspection protocols and standards for incoming mechanical components.
ï·
Coordinate with suppliers to address and resolve quality issues promptly, including root
cause analysis and corrective actions.
5. Continuous Improvement:
ï·
Work collaboratively with suppliers to identify opportunities for process improvement and
cost reduction.
ï·
Implement and monitor continuous improvement initiatives to enhance overall supplier
quality performance.
6. Collaboration and Communication:
ï·
Foster strong relationships with cross -functional teams, including Sourcing, SCM,
engineering, and production, to align on quality expectations.
ï·
Communicate effectively with suppliers to convey quality standards, specifications, and
improvement plans.
7. Risk Management:
ï·
Identify potential risks in the supply chain related to mechanical components and develop
strategies to mitigate these risks.
ï·
Collaborate with suppliers to establish contingency plans for unexpected quality issues.
8. Documentation and Reporting:
ï·
Maintain accurate and up -to -date records of supplier quality performance, audits, and
inspections.
ï·
Generate regular reports on supplier quality metrics and key performance indicators.
ï·
Keep a track of day to day supplier quality issues, actions and closure status
ï·
Manage supplier rejections / MRB / Blocked stock along with SCM teams for closure.
Requirements
Qualifications:
ï· Bachelor's degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
ï· Proven experience in supplier quality engineering, particularly in the mechanical domain.
ï·
Strong understanding of mechanical components, manufacturing processes, and quality control
methodologies, mechanical special processes & control mechanisms
ï·
Knowledge of relevant industry standards (AS9100), Aerospace & Defense customer standards /
requirements and regulations.
ï·
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
ï·
Problem -solving and root cause analysis & 8D expertise.
ï·
FAI process as per AS9102 requirements
ï·
Working experience in Electronics Manufacturing industry (EMS) will be an added advantage.
ï·
Ability to travel for on -site supplier visits as needed.
Other Skills Preferred:
ï·
Certification in quality management (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, CpK studies, SPC & MSA, Internal auditor).
ï·
Familiarity with ERP (SAP) systems and quality management software.
ï·
Understanding of both metal & plastic parts manufacturing processes
ï·
Coordinating with IQC team
ï·
Knowledge of different types of mechanical materials and finishes
