We're looking for a Sr IT Asset & Configuration Management Specialist I to build and maintain our IT asset and configuration management practices as we modernize our service management environment. This role owns day-to-day asset lifecycle activities and supports the accuracy, governance, and usability of our hardware, software, and configuration data.

The ideal candidate has experience managing software and hardware assets, working with CMDB / configuration management processes, and supporting ITSM practices in an ITIL-aligned environment. Experience with Flexera and Jira Service Management is strongly preferred, along with exposure to API integrations and discovery tooling — discovery agents, MID Servers, or beacons — used to keep asset and CMDB data current. This role partners closely with ITSM, infrastructure, security, procurement, and operations teams to improve visibility, compliance, and operational efficiency across the asset landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Asset lifecycle management

•  Manage IT assets from procurement through deployment, maintenance, and retirement, maintaining accurate hardware and software records.


•  Support reconciliation, audits, and cleanup efforts to improve inventory accuracy.

Software & hardware asset management

•  Track software entitlements, installations, usage, and renewals; support compliance, optimization, and audit response.


•  Manage end-user device inventory, including assignment tracking, lifecycle status, and disposition/retirement.


•  Maintain standards for asset tagging, categorization, and record-keeping.

Configuration management / CMDB

•  Maintain configuration data and CMDB relationships between assets, CIs, services, applications, and infrastructure.


•  Support data quality controls, audits, and normalization of configuration records.

Flexera administration

•  Administer Flexera for software/hardware asset management, using its data and tooling to improve inventory, entitlement, compliance, and lifecycle visibility.


•  Support data imports, reconciliations, and reporting within Flexera.

ITSM and process support

•  Work within ITIL-aligned asset and configuration management practices, supporting incident, change, request, and procurement processes.


•  Contribute to documentation, standards, and process improvements for asset management operations.

Reporting and continuous improvement

•  Build and maintain asset reports, dashboards, and metrics.


•  Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, improve data quality, and streamline asset processes.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)

•  10+ years of experience in IT asset management or related operational roles.


•  Hands-on experience managing both software and hardware asset inventories.


•  Experience with configuration management / CMDB concepts and practices.


•  Working knowledge of ITIL and service management best practices.


•  Experience using Flexera for asset management, software asset management, or inventory/compliance support.


•  Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.


•  Experience working with cross-functional teams such as ITSM, infrastructure, security, procurement, or finance.


•  Strong communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

•  Experience in a software, SaaS, or similarly lean, modern environment.


•  Experience supporting asset management in Jira Service Management / Assets or another CMDB-enabled platform.


•  Experience with API integrations connecting asset or CMDB systems to source-of-truth platforms.


•  Experience deploying and maintaining discovery tooling such as discovery agents, MID Servers, or beacons.


•  Comfort establishing new discovery/integration patterns and troubleshooting existing discovery schedules.


•  Experience with software licensing, renewal management, and compliance reporting.


•  Familiarity with cloud, SaaS, server, or virtual infrastructure asset tracking.


•  Asset management or ITIL certification.

Typical Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, Science & Technology, or a related field.
