The primary purpose of this job is to identify partnership opportunities with government bodies, donors, and non-profits to replicate the organization's programs in Indian states. The State Head will also be responsible for developing the program portfolio, building the organization's profile at the regional and state levels, overseeing high-quality program implementation, and advocating for education-related issues. The role involves collaborating with various internal teams and external entities like NCERT, SCERTS, government and non-government counterparts, donors, and research groups.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Partnerships for Programme & Network Development
Manage existing partnerships and pursue new ones with governments, donors, and civil society organizations.
Lead the finalization and review of program resources to align with the organization's standards and government recommendations.
Design and finalize capacity-building resources for training key stakeholders, including the internal team.
Anchor thought leadership by organizing dissemination events to share lessons and encourage program replication.
2. Programme Implementation, Technology, and Financial Management
Lead the implementation and tracking of programs in states, including integrating technology systems and high-priority governance processes.
Build the internal team's capacity for high-quality, outcome-focused implementation.
Plan and ensure timely support to state governments for the distribution of teaching and learning resources.
Lead the planning and delivery of capacity-building for government officials, teachers, and other stakeholders.
Track and report on budget utilization to the Deputy Director-QI.
3. Programme Monitoring, Quality Assurance, and Reporting
Work with the state government to agree on a monitoring and outcome framework to assess the quality and impact of programs.
Share monthly and quarterly programmatic and financial progress and quality concerns with the State Head.
Ensure timely and high-quality documentation and reporting by consultants.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential Requirements
A Master's degree in Education, Management, International Development, or Social Sciences.
At least five years of experience in managing statewide programs and grants, preferably in partnership with a government body.
Demonstrated technical knowledge in education management, pedagogy, teacher training, and student assessments.
Experience in developing education resources or research papers.
Experience with technology-based scaling projects.
Proven ability to work successfully with a variety of stakeholders, including government agencies and NGOs.
Strong project management, writing, public speaking, and data analysis skills.
Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
The job may require up to 30% travel.
Desirable Requirements
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to facilitate diverse groups.
Proficiency in the Kannada language or a willingness to learn it.
Experience in writing education resources or research papers.
Knowledge of current education research and evolving policy priorities at the state and national levels.
