Your role, your entry point at AFRY

As a member of a team of building designers at AFRY, you will have the opportunity to work on diverse and challenging projects that will make a real impact on the outside world. Through the Design Center you will collaborate with a team of highly skilled professionals in Sweden and play an important role in delivering innovative solutions for our clients. It is important that you are a team player and that you are curious and eager to learn new things.

About the team in Sweden

In Sweden, there are currently around 200 structural engineers in the business area. This position will be linked to a section in the South of Sweden in which currently 4 people are employed. We work with a wide scope of assignments including everything from the planning-stage to detail design. The size of projects is very different, ranging from project groups of 1-2 structural engineers up to larger ones where up to 100 engineers from different disciplines may participate.

Typical projects are hospitals, industrial facilities, offices, schools, and residential buildings.

Your key responsibilities

• Perform structural calculations and analyses (steel, wood, concrete) according to Eurocode.
• Collaborate with architects and other engineers to optimize material quantities and solve technical challenges.
• Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Produce basis for drawings and specifications.
• Report and follow up on own progress and budget.

We expect that you have

• A Master’s or bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in structural design of buildings.
• Proficiency in performing structural calculations both manually and using software.
• Proficiency in designing load-bearing structures according to Eurocode.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
• An unpretentious attitude and a solution-oriented mindset.
• Courage and dare to question when necessary.

We appreciate if you also have

• Experience of working abroad, especially projects in the Nordics.
• Knowledge of the Swedish application of Eurocode (EKS).
• Proficiency in modelling and drawing production in Revit or Tekla.
