Subject Matter Expert - Fisheries

The Subject Matter Expert (SME) – Fisheries will support the content development, evaluation of AI -enabled digital solutions for fisheries and aquaculture (Freshwater, Brackish & Marine). The role focuses on creating high -quality domain content for AI model training and evaluation, validating model outputs, and supporting pilot testing and promoting deployment of farmer -/fish farmer–centric applications in collaboration with implementation partners and government line departments in your connection, if possible.

• Overview: The consultant will work on a Google funded project, contributing to advancements in agriculture by supporting critical data curation, content expertise and evaluation tasks for AI models aimed at improving fish health, yield, advisories, agricultural outcomes etc.
  

• Data Curation & Validation: Develop, evaluate, and refine AI model performance by creating high -quality, regionally -relevant conversational Q&A content on fisheries and aquaculture, and validating AI -generated responses for accuracy and usability by farmers and field extension workers.
  

• Model Evaluation Data Creation: Create and annotate ground -truth datasets based on established agronomic literature and extension advisories.
  

• Model Evaluation: Evaluate AI -generated responses for accuracy, relevance, completeness, and alignment with recommended agricultural practices.
  

• AI -Model Domain Assessment: Test the mobile application's Fisheries modules (chatbot) for functional and domain accuracy, validating advisories on management (pond preparation and water quality management, fish seed selection and stocking density, feed management and nutrition, fish health, disease prevention, and treatment, harvesting and post -harvest handling etc.), best practices etc. and documenting all identified gaps, errors, and inconsistencies.
  

• Guideline Adherence: Follow data curation guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs) provided by the team. Raise queries or flag ambiguous cases for review by the reporting manager or domain expert.
  

• Productivity and Accuracy: Meet daily and weekly curation targets while maintaining a high level of accuracy. Participate in regular quality audits and incorporate feedback to improve annotation consistency.
  

Requirements

• Education: Master’s degree (Second or Third or Fourth year) or PhD (Any year) in Fisheries Science, Aquaculture, or related disciplines from an accredited university or college.
  

• Experience: 1 -3 years of work experience as an SME, with demonstrated experience in translating domain knowledge into structured digital content projects is preferred but not mandatory.
  

• Domain Familiarity: Adequate understanding of fisheries and aquaculture systems, and aquaculture terminology. Ability to assess the correctness of practical farmer conditions queries is essential.
  

• Technical Skills: Basic technical proficiency with the ability to work on digital platforms and tools.
  

• Attention to Detail: Strong observational skills with the ability to distinguish accurately and label visual features especially in image -based data curation.
  

• Tools Availability: Access to a functional laptop and reliable internet connection is mandatory.
  

• Technical Skills: Proficient with multitasking in a split -screen setup, using Excel or Google Sheets, and performing data entry and copy -paste operations efficiently.
  

• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to participate in team calls, deliver feedback effectively, and coordinate with the project team.
