This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Supplier Account Manager – Plastics based in India.


This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead strategic supplier relationships within a highly innovative and global manufacturing environment. The position focuses on driving sourcing excellence across plastics, polymers, and hoses while ensuring optimal cost, quality, and delivery performance. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will play a critical role in building resilient supply chains, qualifying new suppliers, and mitigating sourcing risks. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on supplier engagement and large-scale commercial negotiations. You will collaborate with international stakeholders, contribute to supply chain transformation initiatives, and help shape sourcing strategies that support advanced technology manufacturing. Accountabilities:



  • Develop and implement commodity strategies for plastics, polymers, and hoses, ensuring alignment with business objectives and long-term sourcing plans.

  • Build, manage, and strengthen strategic relationships with suppliers to optimize performance across cost, quality, delivery, and lead-time metrics.

  • Monitor supplier KPIs, identify improvement opportunities, and lead corrective actions to enhance overall supply chain performance.

  • Identify and onboard alternative suppliers to reduce supply risks and ensure business continuity.

  • Lead supplier qualification activities, including technical capability assessments and compliance with international standards and organizational requirements.

  • Negotiate commercial agreements and contracts, establishing sustainable and mutually beneficial supplier partnerships.

  • Partner with engineering and cross-functional teams to qualify new materials and suppliers that meet technical specifications and cost targets.

  • Act as the primary escalation point for supplier-related issues, driving effective resolution and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Analyze market trends, cost structures, and supplier benchmarks to maintain competitiveness and identify cost-reduction opportunities.

  • Support supplier onboarding and disengagement processes while addressing systemic supply chain challenges related to quality, cost, and delivery performance.


Requirements



  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline; specialization in Polymer Engineering is considered an advantage.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, manufacturing, category management, project management, or related supply chain functions.

  • Proven expertise in managing plastics, polymers, or hoses as strategic commodities.

  • At least 5 years of experience leading complex commercial negotiations with large-scale suppliers.

  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, ASTM standards, and supplier technical assessments.

  • Experience working within global, multicultural environments, including knowledge of logistics, import/export regulations, and international supplier ecosystems.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders within matrix organizations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a data-driven approach to decision-making.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, SAP, Power BI, and familiarity with SAP Ariba or RFQ tools.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and project execution skills.

  • Indian citizenship with a valid passport and willingness to travel internationally across Asia and other regions as required.

  • Ability to travel up to approximately 35% of the time and collaborate across multiple time zones in a hybrid working environment.
