We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Surgical Oncologist to join our oncology department. This position is ideal for professionals who are passionate about delivering high-quality cancer care through surgical expertise. As a Surgical Oncologist, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with solid tumors, often as part of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning and performing complex cancer surgeries, providing expert post-operative care, and working closely with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver personalized treatment plans. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of surgical oncology, utilizing cutting-edge technology and evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Evaluate and diagnose patients with various types of solid tumors requiring surgical intervention.
Plan and perform oncologic surgeries including tumor resection, biopsies, reconstructive procedures, and palliative surgeries.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized cancer treatment plans.
Manage pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure optimal patient recovery.
Monitor and manage surgical complications and intervene appropriately when needed.
Provide consultation services and second opinions for complex cancer cases.
Participate in tumor boards, case discussions, and quality improvement programs.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in surgical oncology and adopt innovative techniques when appropriate.
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, and follow-up care.
Contribute to academic and research initiatives, including clinical trials and peer-reviewed publications, as applicable.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
MBBS and MS (General Surgery) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
MCh/DNB in Surgical Oncology or equivalent super-specialty training.
0–5 years of relevant experience in surgical oncology, including residency or fellowship training.
Proficient in performing a wide range of cancer surgeries (e.g., breast, gastrointestinal, head and neck, thoracic, gynecologic, etc.).
Excellent knowledge of oncologic principles, staging systems, and multidisciplinary cancer management.
Strong communication, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and high-pressure clinical environment.
Commitment to patient-centric care, safety, and ethical medical practice.
Desirable Skills:
Prior experience as a Surgical Oncology Consultant or Cancer Surgeon in a recognized institution.
Exposure to minimally invasive or robotic-assisted cancer surgeries.
Experience with academic teaching, case presentations, or research in oncologic surgery.
