Role Overview:
Lead Attero’s sustainability and ESG agenda across ESG strategy, carbon management, environmental performance, sustainability certifications, carbon credits, ESG due diligence and emerging sustainability initiatives. Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to embed sustainability into business strategy and identify opportunities for innovation and business value. Represent Attero at national and international forums, conferences, policy dialogues and stakeholder engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and drive Attero’s ESG and Sustainability strategy, targets, initiatives and performance metrics.
- Lead corporate carbon footprint and GHG emissions assessments, including Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions.
- Undertake carbon footprint, avoided emissions and environmental impact calculations for e-waste, lithium-ion battery recycling, recovered metals and other business processes.
- Track developments in carbon markets, carbon credit methodologies and climate-related regulations and identify opportunities relevant to Attero.
- Drive initiatives related to decarbonisation, circular economy, resource efficiency, urban mining and environmental impact reduction.
- Lead/coordinate ESG reporting, disclosures, data collection and assurance, including BRSR and other applicable frameworks.
- Support ESG due diligence for investors, lenders, customers, strategic partners and other stakeholders, including preparation of ESG questionnaires, data rooms and assessments.
- Identify, evaluate and manage relevant environmental and sustainability certifications, standards and audits, including ISO, carbon footprint, LCA and responsible sourcing-related standards.
- Maintain continuous awareness and provide regular updates to management on ESG, sustainability, climate and environmental regulations, standards and best practices in India and globally.
- Conduct ESG gap assessments, benchmarking, research and analysis and translate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Identify and develop innovative sustainability initiatives, projects and business opportunities that can create environmental and commercial value for Attero.
- Work closely with Operations, EHS, Finance, Procurement, Legal, HR, Business Development and Communications teams to implement sustainability initiatives.
- Prepare management presentations, briefing notes, technical reports, research papers, policy inputs and sustainability content.
- Represent Attero at industry conferences, roundtables, policy forums, sustainability events and other external platforms, including as a speaker/panelist.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry bodies, government institutions, consultants, certification agencies, research organisations, customers, investors and other sustainability stakeholders.
- Participate in and lead regular internal and external meetings on ESG and sustainability matters and ensure timely follow-up and closure of action points.
- Support the development of Attero’s thought leadership and external sustainability positioning across circular economy, recycling, critical materials, carbon management and climate action.
Candidate Profile:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in Sustainability, ESG, Climate Change, Environmental Management, Carbon Accounting, Sustainability Consulting or related fields.
- Postgraduate qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences/Management, Climate Change, Development Studies, Engineering or related field from reputed college/International College degree is preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience in GHG accounting, carbon footprint assessment and ESG analysis.
- Experience with carbon credit projects/carbon markets will be strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GHG Protocol, BRSR, ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14064/14067 and other relevant ESG and sustainability frameworks.
- Experience in ESG reporting, due diligence, sustainability certifications, audits and external assurance.
- Exposure to recycling, waste management, batteries, metals, mining, manufacturing, energy or circular economy sectors preferred.
- Strong understanding of Indian and international ESG, environmental and sustainability regulations and standards, with the ability to continuously track and interpret developments.
- Excellent analytical, research and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate technical and regulatory developments into clear business recommendations.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation and public-speaking skills.
- Strong stakeholder-management and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to represent Attero at high-level external forums.
- Innovative and proactive mindset, with the ability to identify new sustainability opportunities, methodologies, partnerships and business applications.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across functions.
- Strong attention to detail, data quality and ability to work with both technical sustainability data and senior-level strategic requirements.
